Constant nausea

Hi!

Sorry to sound like I am grumbling..

I am around 7 and half weeks pregnant but really struggling with constant nausea. I've tried everything I can think of to ease it but nothing is working. I've had to call in sick to work this week which isn't helping.

Any advice would be grateful 🙏

Next step would be to ask your GP to prescribe you something, if you've tried absolutely everything else

Go to your GP if you can! There are plenty of pregnancy-safe medications you can take that take the edge off.

I'm 8.5 weeks and have been on cyclizine since 7 weeks for 24/7 debilitating nausea (no vomiting... yet) - though that's stopped being effective so I'm being prescribed something stronger today, hopefully.

Other than that, I'm sure you know the tried and tested tips but just in case:

  • Peppermint tea, all day every day

  • Eat small amounts every hour, if you can. The last thing you might want to do is eat, but the only thing worse than that is not eating

  • Try to lie down as much as you can and don't force yourself to do things

  • If you work from home, nap between meetings

  • Get hold of some acupressure wristbands and peppermint/anti-sickness bonbons. Myrtle and Maud does a great anti-sickness rescue pack that includes both of these, plus some fortified tea - you can find the website via google

  • Lie in bed for as long as possible before getting up, rushing is the worst thing you can do in the morning

All sympathies to you, the 24/7 feeling of 'UGH' is awful. I hope you find something that works.

Thank you so much! I work 12 hour shifts so it's really difficult to rest 🤦‍♀️🤭
The doctor has prescribed promethazine as a 5 day course so will see how I go and if I need something else after this.

Thank you for your help!

@K1010 I just got prescribed promethazine too! Good luck, I hope it works for you :)

I am in exactly the same boat at 7 weeks can’t remember it being so bad with my first! :(

Don’t have any advice as I’ve been following the advice on here and nothing is helping. Just feel useless can barely get out of bed except to take the little one to school.
