Hi everyone, has anyone been prescribed Stemetil and Cyclizine for morning sickness?

I was prescribed cyclizine after weeks of ongoing queasiness (no vomiting). It worked really well and there were no impacts on the baby.

I was but it did absolutely nothing . I had bad hg and nothing helped it sadly

boymum9 · 28/06/2022 07:09

I had cyclizine in both pregnancies and honestly don't think it helped (but sickness was severe) but had no negative effect on babies.

Oral cyclizine didn’t help me (2 HG pregnancies)
Stemitil was better if I could keep it down.
I just threw up Avomine instantly
IV cyclizine in drip was amazing, somewhat trippy, but made me feel better enough to eat a bit
Metaclopromide and Ondanestron were the gold standard for me.

Was hospitalised with HG in both pregnancies. Both DC fine! Now 11 and 14.

I have been prescribed both but separately. Stemtil
did absolutely nothing for me but cytlezine works well. I take an ant acid with it. That can really help reduce the sickness and the feeling of too much saliva.

Cyclizine on its own did nothing but combined with metoclopramide did the trick. Well, stopped me being in hospital every 5 minutes.

I was first prescribed Stemetil which just made me sleepy and groggy, then Cyclizine which made me more sick. I ended up having odansetron and metaclopramide which worked well.

@ghislaine how many did you take a day?

Oh @Ridingthegravytrain sounds like you had an awful time of it 🙁

Just one tablet a day. Mine was nothing like what’s been described here, I just felt constantly queasy.

MummaDee1 · 28/06/2022 21:15

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads thankfully my sickness hasn't got that bad. Have only been sick a few times - hoping it stays that way!
