Second baby movements

When did everyone start feeling their second baby compared to their first baby? I’m worried as I’m 17+3 and I’m pretty sure I’d felt my daughter by now. Did anyone feel their second baby later than their first?

I felt my first at about 23 weeks and my second at 18ish. Are you sure you felt your first that early because that seems really early!

I'm on third baby - I didn't feel this one til very late, but it turns out I have an anterior placenta and it sort of cushions the movements. Had felt first two around 16-18 weeks, I'm now 24 and feeling it frequently, but certainly not til later this time.

I'm pretty sure. I just remember feeling this new feeling and it making me feel sick because I wasn't used to it. Felt it the next day after that and I don't remember feeling it again until my 20 week scan

I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my second and felt movements later.
I have an anterior placenta this time though whereas I had a posterior with my Son.

With my first I felt movements at 18ish weeks with them being strong and clear movements by 20 weeks and could see them on the outside by 22 weeks.

With my second I didn't even start feeling flutters until around 21/22 weeks and these didn't really become strong movements until 24ish weeks and it was just after that I started being able to see/feel them on the outside too

Charchar - OMG, I was about to post this exact question! I'm 17 + 4 and worried that I'm not really feeling anything. I think a couple of flutters but I'm sure I was having semi regular movements with my previous two by now.

That's so reassuring, thank you.

Yeah, at 15 weeks I thought I felt something but I've felt nothing since so I'm not convinced I did. I don't even know where my placenta is so I have no idea if everything is alright or not

Private scan an option? I've had several and last week I went because of the whole no movement thing and the sonographer was so lovely and reassured me......I'm still worried 🙈

Lou98 · 26/06/2022 13:25

@Ishacoco no problem! I was worried when it got to around the 18/19 week mark and not felt anything but I had a private scan at 16 weeks to find out what we were having and they told me I had an anterior placenta so I knew it was most likely that. I was so relieved though when I eventually felt the movements! I'm 37 weeks now and she goes mental in there 😅

@charchar2102 they should tell you at your 20 week scan when you go what kind of placenta you have. With an anterior, because it sits at the front of baby it can muffle movements and make them harder for you to feel so generally takes longer to start feeling them

Currently 29 weeks with second baby. Felt odd flutters (not regular) from around 18 weeks and then started feeling proper kicks at 20 weeks. This baby is now a lot more active than my first baby despite having an anterior placenta this time which is meant to make feeling movements more difficult.

Unfortunately not with money issues

I've just had the one complete pregnancy. Not sure when I started feeling movements but it was definitely after 20 weeks as I remember being asked at the anomaly scan if I'd felt any movement and it was a no from me!

Ishacoco · 26/06/2022 23:56

Charchar - I just tell myself that with every day that passes I'm getting closer to feeling some movement 🤷‍♀️
