Empty sac at almost 7 weeks

Hi.

Normally I should be around 7 weeks pregnant, but never had regular cycles to know for sure.

At the ultrasound yesterday the sac was empty...

The hcg is around 10k, which is consistent with early 7th week. I will repeat it on Monday. But this gives me even more panic, as it shows that I should actually be 7 weeks (and does not seem to be a delay of ovulation, as I hoped). And I read that the HCG can rise even if there is no embrion.

I will also repeat the ultrasound next week. But I feel I'll go crazy until then.
Any similar experiences? I also welcome the ones with unhappy ending, as I want to be aware of what to expect.

Thank you and be safe.

Just wanted to add, I had no bleeding. But my symptoms of pregnancy have been quite limited, sore breasts (comes and goes), abdominal discomfort and feeling quite tired. No nausea.

I'm so sorry you're going through this it must be a horrible time. I've experience of miscarriages and you just want it over, not dragging out.
I really hope they find a foetus when you go back, but prepare yourself that they won't.
The hCG is a feedback mechanism and things can continue to grow for a while even without an embryo.
Good luck and I hope things work out. If they don't this time, they will, honestly, I had dreadful trouble with miscarriages and have two children now - most people do and so many more people than you realise have miscarriages - 🤞🏼

I'm so sorry you're going through this, the limbo land is so hard and so unexpected.
Unfortunately, it's just hard to know when you're so early as dates could be off and there's a lot of variation in early pregnancy. Even bleeding and spotting can be normal.
Hoping you have good news at your next appointment. Take care of yourself.

Thank you for your kindness and support! I will try to focus on the long term and not put all my hopes in the outcome next week. 🤗

Erm, just a heads up in case you do miscarry, pregnancy symptoms can continue for weeks after confirmed miscarriages as the hormone levels slowly return to normal.
It's a complete kick in the teeth and caught me completely by surprise so just want to warn you to brace yourself, just in case the worst happens.

I went today to repeat the HCG. Friday it was 10800 and 45 hours later 12600.

Could it be any chance for things to turn out ok? Or should I come to terms with it already?

Sorry to hear you're going through this. I know how hard the uncertainty is.

Do you know the size of the sac when you had your scan?

Hope15022023 · 26/06/2022 17:59

1.51cm.

I can't give up hope yet. But I really pray to be as it's better.

Thank you!

Definitely don't give up hope yet!
They can only say the pregnancy won't continue normally if the sac diameter is 30mm or above and no fetal pole is present.

I'm a sonographer and scanned by own daughter who had an empty sac at 21mm. I can't deny I was worried. We waited 2 weeks and I scanned her again and saw my future grandchild so there is definitely hope for you!

Thank you so much for sharing. It's a great story. Even though I imagine it wasn't so easy going through it. Happy to hear it all turned out well for your family.

We'll see next week how things go. I'm also worried and feeling guilty because I was on holiday , not knowing I was pregnant and drank loads in the 3-4 weeks... so I know it may just be my fault. I only hope for the outcome to be for the best...

Best to you and your family.

@Hope15022023 sending best wishes. Drinking in the early weeks won't have caused this I don't believe. Keep positive until the next scan and don't blame yourself.

Thank you so much! It's really helpful to find support here in these moments when feeling low...

Unfortunately, today it was confirmed the miscarriage, blighted ovum. My Dr told me to take the vaginal tablets 24h after the oral one. On the prospectus it says 36-48, but I saw on the internet that also 24h should work. I'm assuming I should do as my doctor recommended, right? Thank you.

@Hope15022023 I'm so sorry to hear this.
Unfortunately this happened to my daughter last year which is why I scanned her early. It's such a horrible situation because your body is acting as if you're pregnant still.
She definitely had the vaginal tablets 24 hours after the oral ones.
Take care, I'll be thinking of you xx

@Cyclewidow46 , thank you so much. I read so many things now about the effects of the medication. Hope it's effective and not that bad. As I anticipate that it will also be hard to process emotionally... I'm scared about side effect as I really hope we can start trying again as soon as possible. So I'm very grateful for all good thoughts 🤗🤗
