Bleeding 14w2d, prescribed cyclogest

Hi, I had a small bleed at 14+2 and I’ve had a previous miscarriage so I obviously panicked. Was straight in the next morning for a scan and baby was fine they said they couldn’t see a cause for the bleed. I then had some brown spotting and had another small bleed but very tiny amount. Since then I’ve had brown blood. No pain. I have been given cyclogest but didn’t receive this until 14+5, they’ve told me to take it until I’m 16 weeks. They’ve told me to take 400mg twice a day. Should I bother taking it or shall I not bother? The scan was fine but I’m still worried because of the brownish discharge/blood. Thanks

I was on them due to IVF and it didn't stop my brown spotting.
But personally if I've been advised to take them I would.

Why wouldn't you take it? It is a very common prescription. I take it now as part of an IVF pregnancy.

I didn’t realise it was a common prescription, especially because I’m over 12 weeks I wasn’t sure if it was necessary to take it as I thought placenta takes over 12weeks+, they don’t tell you much information which is why I’ve come here to ask and get some reassurance from people who have had similar experiences
Thanks

I was prescribed it at 23 weeks so 14 doesn't seem very late to me! It is supposed to support your cervix and help to prevent your uterus contracting, so whether it does you any good will depend on the cause of the bleeding, but it's a very safe drug and won't harm you so no reason not to take it.

Take it! I had no progesterone issues but was on it until 26 weeks due to previous miscarriage.

Oh thank you! Wasn’t sure whether it was late to take it because from what I’ve searched it says people tend to stop it at around 12 weeks. Thanks!
