Blurred vision - 18 weeks pregnant

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has had this.

The past week or so I've noticed my vision isn't quite as good as normal. I normally wear contact lenses so I first thought it might be this. I first noticed as I couldn't quite pick out a number plate (well over the legal distance btw, I'm still safe) and then at work I couldn't quite see some small writing on a computer screen from a distance. I didn't think too much of it at the time as it's not something I regularly test myself on. The past couple of days though I've noticed blurrier vision when putting my contacts in when I get up. I keep having to take my contacts out and re clean them but I've come to the conclusion now it's my eyes, not my contacts. It seems to be one side more than the other.

Should I be worried about this? It says online that conditions like preeclampsia and gestational diabetes aren't a concern at this point but it could point to this? I am higher risk for preeclampsia as my mum had it but my blood pressure has been fine. I don't seem to have any other symptoms of anything else either though (except maybe weeing lots but who doesn't?!). It also says blurry vision can be normal in pregnancy..!

Any other experiences of this? I think I'll probably call my midwife when I get a chance but just wanted to check here first.

Thanks!

Definitely ring your GP today. X

You should call your midwife asap. Officially too early for Pre Eclampsia but it needs checking out.

Def check but your eyes and prescription can change during pregnancy. Mine got slightly worse, and optician said it wasn't uncommon. I had to get a new eye test after DD was born again.

Thanks all, I will call this morning!

I think it is common to have more blurred vision but I guess I should ring to just check. I hate making a big deal out of things though, I find posting on here helps me to know whether I'm overreacting or not haha
