Hello has anyone had similar before please?

For the past three days I have had cramp pain in my right calf and tightness kind of feeling with muscular ache. Walking seems to ease it slightly but upon wrest it tightens up again.

Been online and worried silly about DVT. Waiting for the doctor to call me back this morning

Glad you called the GP. Do you have any other risk factors for DVT?

Jul82 · 22/06/2022 08:58

@theotherfossilsister No not that I know of. The past few bloods I had (booking appointment and 12 week scan bloods) They really struggled by to get blood out they said it was thick and slow so that’s now in the back of my mind too

You may also need to just drink more. Calf spasms can be a sign of dehydration and it's so surprising how much more water you need to drink while pregnant. If you are drinking lots try some electrolytes as well.

Obviously saying this as you have appointment with GP already booked about DVT potential.

Could be sciatica op. Caused by the growing uterus putting pressure on your sciatic nerve.

Some other risk factors:
Obesity
Immobility such as long distance travel
Family history
Smoker
Get a tape measure and measure your calves. Are they the same?
Look at the veins in both ankles and feet are they distended?
It is rare but not unheard of to get dvt this early. I treated a lady who was 14 weeks. She had been on a coach journey of around 7 hours. Also was somewhat overweight and had been quite dehydrated.

@DottieDe hopefully it is just that I haven’t been drinking as much water as I usually do actually.

@TheVolturi ah really I never knew you could get this in the lower leg that’s good to know

@endofthelinefinally Thanks. Calves are the same /no to the rest. If anything I have been more active as I have taken on a cleaning job 2 hours per day it’s so strange. I could be dehydrated though.

clician from my doctors told me to go to A&E as d dimmer blood tests don’t work in pregnancy apparently. So stressed can’t get there until tomorrow. Even then I need someone to have my toddler But doubt anyone is available for the whole day while I sit in A&E. thought the doctor could send me for an ultrasound without A&E wait
