I'm just wondering what amount of weight gain is ideal for the baby's health during pregnancy.
I've always been slim and fit - I'm 5'9" and before this pregnancy I was about 9st, so down at the bottom end of the "healthy" BMI, which is normal for me due to my diet and exercise habits.
I gained weight exponentially since becoming pregnant and am now 11st 8lb at 28 weeks. It's all in my bum and thighs, and a bit on my face, rather than around my waist. Even removing my pregnancy from the equation, I am still in the "healthy" BMI range at this weight (the top end) but also the weight gain is quite a bit more than the recommended amount for my stage of pregnancy.
The last couple of weeks I've been trying to eat smaller, healthier options, like I used to, and I've actually lost a couple of pounds.
But now I'm not sure whether that's good for the baby or not. I really don't care what I look like during pregnancy (well, ok, the thigh cellulite is a bit gross) and my only concern is what is best for my baby boy.
Is the extra fat good for him?? Or does he not need this many calories? Should I eat less? Could gaining this much weight so rapidly cause problems for him?
