Hi ladies. I haven't posted in a long time. I'm 29+6 today.
Had a tougher pregnancy this time around, spotting throughout, UTI's, reduced movements, I have group B strep and also now been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I've also had to go onto sertraline as my anxiety was getting out of control, but im pleased to say it's helped and I feel much better. Oh and I got married this weekend πŸ˜† so been very busy !

How is everyone worse doing ? I have got a few baby bits for the hospital but nothing for me yet apart from some socks for labour lol.

Who has started buying big stuff ?

I got the tuttibambini next to bed crib about 6 weeks back, along with bouncer seat, angel bath seat, playmat. Picked up some bottles/steriliser/dummies and clothing too. Still have pram and car seat (still complies with latest laws) so don't need to get new. Treated myself you a new nappy/changing bag, and stocked up on wiped and couple packs of nappies

Still feel like I'm forgetting something important..

Are you getting on ok since your GD diagnosis? I've been having issues getting my fingers to bleed! 4 attempts earlier before I had one bleed enough! That and having to reuse needles as pharmacy still haven't got them in yet πŸ˜•

@Pandabuggle I haven't had my initial meeting yet with the diabetes clinic so been given no stuff to test with !
My partners mom was diabetic though so he has a testing kit already, we had a mess around today and my sugars were 11.2 after a Chinese, no surprise there !! Obviously was a bad move but was starving and it was there Blush but I've done well all day up until that point.
My fingers bled loads though as I inject blood thinners.

How have you been finding the diet change ? I just don't know what to eat

Pandabuggle · 31/07/2022 22:23

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits the diabetes.co.uk website has been a huge help so far. I've definitely upped my protein and reduced carbs. More salad, raw carrot with whole nut peanut butter has helped stay fuller for longer. I saw that adding vinegar can help control the levels too so pickled beetroot with dab of mayo. So far everything but my first morning has been nicely under. Over did it last night with snack before bed, woke up feeling stuffed but still under set fasting target. Breakfast is still a bit trial and error, never been good at eating first thing, usually tea, then snack of something starchy/sugary about 11.

New here! First time mum due 28th October ☺️ getting close now!!

Smarsh32 · 02/08/2022 12:23

We have got most things sorted now I think... I know what you mean about feeling like we have forgotten something though. I honestly cannot even wait until she is here now.
@Pandabuggle - when I used to work in the hospital and struggle to get blood from patients fingers, try and put your arm and hand right down pointing to the ground after the prick so gravity can pull some blood out see if that helps! It must be horrible :(
We had midwife this morning and she is not very happy that I will be working up until 38 weeks. She has said to me to rethink and maybe finish work earlier but I want as much time off after as I can.. and I am currently working from home doing an office job so it's nothing strenuous.
I feel overwhelmed now! Xx

Thank you I'll check it out. I'm just hungry all the time ! So can't be eating the right things. It's lunch I'm struggling with the most...
doesn't help I've got quite bad ocd around food which I developed during this pregnancy because I was so worried about eating certain things incase of contamination, so I'm still not eating lettuce because of soil, I'm funny with any cold meats as worried about listeria. All I really eat is cheese !
I'm going to buy some steaks for dinners I think and loads of frozen veg.
Have you switched to brown carbs ? I have but still worried I shouldn't be eating them.
For lunch I've had a brown pitta with cheese and red onion and I'm starving still

Well cheese is apparently our friend now we've got GD! I can understand the concerns re soil and lettuce and the listeria. I'd already switched to wholemeal a while back, just prefer the taste. I've had some red results on my meter over the last 3 days, midwife said I'm to call but I know I've caused them due to my breakfast choices. Feeling limited and already sick of eggs and Greek yogurt (not together, even I'm not that weird)

Craving a chippy dinner from chip shop currently, that's a definite no go zone 😣

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 02/08/2022 16:51

And lucky it is cause im addicted to it even before pregnancy πŸ˜†
What kind of breakfast foods do you think caused the spikes?
I'm doing a homemade chicken curry tonight with brown rice so I'm interested to see what my levels will be after that !
Just been to the shop and got some celery sticks πŸ™„ and Greek yogurt ! Not together 🀣

Pandabuggle · 02/08/2022 18:50

I had Asda wheatabix with Greek yogurt and half a banana this morning, that was probably the wheatabix and the banana wasn't a green one so probably higher in sugar. The other day likely the double choc mocha and strawberry crunch cereal (bit more than a sprinkle over the yog, so poor portion control)

ImReadyForThis · 06/08/2022 22:44

Hi everyone. 31 weeks now here. Feeling very unprepared still! Can't decide between ELCS or VBAC, haven't even thought about packing a hospital bag. We do have a car seat and pram, and a crib though still need sheets and blankets for it. And I've no idea about clothes yet either, though we have a few sleepsuits in 0-3 and newborn plus whatever bits I have kept from my DD - I need to do a proper inventory check of what I still have.
I'm really excited, but just can't get my head around what needs doing to prepare. My DD was premature so I never got to the final stages of preparing for her arrival. I promised myself I'd be ready early this time... but for all the will in the world to get organised, its just not in my nature and that really frustrates me.
Also getting very stiff and sore round my hips/back/pelvis now, will be ordering a ball ASAP to see if it helps.

Pandabuggle · 11/08/2022 08:42

@ImReadyForThis I'm with you on the being undecided. I mean I'd like to try and go naturally but with the GD diagnosis it sounds like they try and push for induction, which from what I've noticed generally ends in a csection anyway. So I may request a csection if I've not gone naturally. We'll see. I did want the option of water birth but that's doubtful. If natural I don't want to be confined to a bed for hours on end, would like the chance to move.

Pandabuggle · 11/08/2022 08:44

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits how are you getting on now? I hope you're managing ok with testing and what you can eat currently.

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 11/08/2022 09:00

Hi @Pandabuggle I'm doing okay. My fasting bloods are always in the 4's which is good. And my after meal bloods usually stay below 7.8 obviously depending what I eat.
I am struggling still with what to eat. I seem to be eating the same things, and finding it hard when hunger strikes suddenly with what to have. But I'm getting there.
How're you getting on ?

Pandabuggle · 11/08/2022 09:29

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits yeah, I'm finding I'm sticking with the same things too, which is getting a tad bit boring. I tried the coconut flour pancakes from the website yesterday, they were ok but wouldn't go out of my way to make them again. But my after breakfast levels definitely approved!

Probably gunna make brownies later, if those are good then I'll make several batches for freezing. I've decided my first proper meal after all the testing is over will be garlic bread, lasagne and a proper pepsi, maybe some ice cream to follow?

Got midwife tomorrow but have to bus it and only 1 bus an hour so got to leave at 9.15 for a 10.40 appt! Then hang around waiting for bus home. In the heat I'm not looking forward to it one bit!

ImReadyForThis · 11/08/2022 22:27

@Pandabuggle I definitely want to avoid induction - I think the midwife said they wouldn't want to do that anyway.. or at least not with the drip. I think I will probably ask for a c section date booked for 40 weeks, just not sure what to do if I go into labour before that - maybe see if I feel OK then carry on? Need to talk it through more with my midwife. Yes I definitely want to be moving and active in labour if I do go down that route, rather than lying on the bed on a monitor!
I have a growth scan and consultant appointment this week so hopefully all OK there, and midwife again the following week. It was around this time that I developed preeclampsia before, so starting to feel a bit on edge now!

Pandabuggle · 11/08/2022 22:48

@ImReadyForThis I'm having a bit of a crappy one tonight. Told partner about the 'predicted' energy rises for Jan and he's instantly turned round and said if that happens I'm really gunna need your help with bills, like I'm not already helping out.

I also do all the cooking, washing, food shopping and look after my autistic 6 yr old from previous relationship pretty much by myself. He will occasionally clean but only if I've had enough and not bothered because I don't get help. With baby on the way I'm not sure how he expects me to bring in more money than I'll end up paying out in childcare for 2. Plus he's got money saved for house deposit and quite happy to spunk Β£500 monthly on credit card on things we don't need (this month on 2 new gaming monitors)

He works 9-6 (from home) comes down for dinner then says I'm going to the office for couple of hours for some me time (I don't get any 'me' time. Then eventually comes to bed when I'm asleep, usually he's had a few drinks.

I already know he's not gunna help much when baby is here, but he tells me a ridiculous amount of times 'you know I love you, right?' so I suppose that makes it ok huh? πŸ™„

Sorry, really needed to rant. I'm just feeling moody tonight and weather isn't helping.

ImReadyForThis · 12/08/2022 22:49

@Pandabuggle I'm sorry, that doesn't seem like a fair situation for you. I hope he gets a grip on what he needs to do to step up when baby is here, if not before.

This heat is unbearable! I don't know what to do with myself tonight. The cold shower I just had was nice at the time but now I'm just as hot as before.

Wondering if anyone else still has no real idea as to a pattern of movement? I know baby moves regularly, has periods of activity, but still can't work out a pattern of more active times of day etc. I'm not overly worried and feel I would know if she was moving less than usual, but like some evenings she will do some really big wriggles and other evenings it's much less, but I've still felt movements and maybe had bigger movements at other times instead that day. Sometimes i wonder if its just because im not very consistent with the times of day or evening i am concentrating on movements or busy with work/housework etc so sometimes I just miss the really active periods. Any one else have this?

Smarsh32 · 13/08/2022 18:34

@ImReadyForThis - I am glad you have written this.. I am feeling a bit the same with the movements. I feel like she has no pattern at all. I just feel her on and off through the day, I don't feel like she has specific times. - I have been to the hospital once already when I was 27+6 with reduced movements but I think she was just quiet for an hour as she started moving loads once I was on the machine. I just sort of think.. oh I have just felt her on and off but as you say, if I am busy doing things I think I miss her moving. I am trying not to worry or over think it now as I have kind of settled that she has no set pattern lol! - hope you are managing to cool in this heat a little. It's unbearable. I am just sitting in cold baths in the afternoon which is lovely until I get out!! Will be glad for cool and rain! Lol xx

ImReadyForThis · 15/08/2022 18:25

@Smarsh32 I've bought a kicks count wristband to help me track movements and see if I can work out a pattern, or at least be more confident she's doing roughly the same thing each day. I was also in for reduced movement a few weeks ago, but all fine! I've considered calling a few other times but then she has had a big wriggle about and reassured me before I had actually decided whether or not a hospital trip was needed.
