What did early labour feel like for you guys? Im on my first, due in less than 2 weeks time and ive started getting some lower back pain on amd off that feels like a period, ive had lower abdominal pains for a couple of days now too, just trying to compare with people to see what your experiences are. My partner is working nights this week so id like to know whether he can inform his manager that he will be on standby or if im overreacting

That does sound like early labour, but those signs could come days to weeks before actual labour so hold off on telling anyone yet. Good luck!

Its quite mild so im not expecting anything for a couple days at least, ive had terrible pelvic pain for two weeks from her dropping. Im just crazy to get her out now hahaha

With my first ky labour started quite abruptly in the middle of the night, I was rudely woken from my sleeep with a gush and an ache, the ache was in my lower back and tummy and they kept quickly coming and going, was also spotting. My second labour was fairly similar but it started while I was awake and felt like sever dirhhhea cramps, no pain in my back at all just the tummy

Pinkbump: Wow id get such a fright if it happened in the middle of the night as im here on my own!
Lacedwithhrace: I feel like you could cross your fingers, eyes, toes and anything else you can 🙈

At my antenatal class they told us that labour most commonly does start at night so definitely worth having your partner's work aware that he might need to go if he works nights. However the initial stage can last a long time as PP have said, so it isn't the case where contractions start and it's all systems go to get to hospital unless you have a really quick labour.

Everyone is so different, it's hard to call. Both my labours started quite abruptly so I never experienced the "is this it" that many women do. My first did start during the night but not in a way that would have been an issue had my husband been working. It took several hours to ramp up properly so there would have been loads of time. Second time not so much!!

I had contractions 8-10 mins apart that lasted no more than 2 hours on and off for a week before my waters broke.

I kept thinking "this is it!" Only for contractions to stop an hour or so later. It was very frustrating!

Sex kicked it off properly for me. We DTD, 2 hours later my waters broke and contractions started straight afterwards

Woke up early morning with strange cramps, period like or those when you really need the toilet immediately!
Got an urge to shower and straighten my hair and the pains consistently appeared then left, getting worse and worse.
