It's always just been one other person at my trust, even before Covid.

It's completely trust/hospital dependent.

But even pre covid it was usually only mum + 1

Depends on the hospital. Ours is 2 adults, no children allowed.

Usually people just take one person with them to medical scans.

Private scans are different though, sometimes people take a few with them to find out the sex at these. My local private scan company allows 4 guests.

At my hospital it is one person to accompany the patient, no children allowed.
At the private scan place I used 5 people could go. It was a bit much in the waiting room sometimes overhearing whooping and cheering but better than "oh shit another girl/boy" which also happened.

1 person at a hospital scan. More if you have a private scan depending on the place.
