Bleeding 5 weeks - My experience

Hi,
I googled this topic when I was 5 weeks pregnant and said to myself I would add my personal experience once little one arrived as I personally spent hours looking for any reassurance.

I started bleeding at 5 weeks and assumed the worst, called 111 etc and had no idea that there were other reasons I would be bleeding. It was spotting and then a gush of scarlet. I only called the doctor after finding a similar experience deep in Google. The Doctor said it wasn't necessarily bad news and seemed confused that I had assumed it. They also then got me in for an early scan the Monday after. I ended up going private just for nerves but it was implantation bleeding and my cervix was tightly closed, I then continued to bleed brown pretty much until 12 weeks. Everything was okay (apart from my anxiety was through the roof). And he was an absolute giant so I can only assume he was very aggressively settling in for a feast.

I have posted this really just so if you are in a similar situation to call the doctor and not assume the worst, hopefully it helps somebody call their GP for reassurance- I hope it is good news to whoever is reading this.

Thank you for posting this and I'm glad things are well for you. I know how heartbreaking a miscarriage can be but I'm glad things went well for you. It's true bleeding isn't always a sign of miscarriage it could be other things!

Thank you for sharing this @Hollyhollylala

Aw congrats and thanks for sharing. I’m currently in limbo awaiting a second scan after some horrible bleeding. So it’s nice to hear a positive story. All the best x

MrsOnions0 · 22/06/2022 12:45

Thanks for this. I’m 5 weeks today and started bleeding last night, on wiping. Rang EPU yesterday and they advised to ring again this morning should bleeding increase. It has, when going to toilet rather than just wiping.

No ones rang me back just yet. I’m only 5 weeks and can see why. Just a waiting games. Booked private early scan for just over 6 weeks…..

How much blood are you getting? Mine
is weird as sometimes it completely stops and then starts again. Sending love hun. Hopefully it’s nothing negative and you have a good outcome. X

MrsOnions0 · 22/06/2022 19:16

@Mummyto3children The same stop start. I think it’s easing off but then I have another wee and it’s back.

I went to EPU and they looked at my cervix and agreed there was obviously blood but that it was still closed. Had bloods and will again in 48 hours along with a scan.

I just feel like I’ve lost what symptoms I had, my boobs are soft and no nausea. Sick with worry but not the same feeling as pregnancy sickness

Hope you’re scan works out for the best

Mummyto3children · 22/06/2022 19:20

I know it’s horrible to go through. Sending lots of positive vibes. I hope the bloods show increased hcg and your scan outcomes are good too. I wish I could comfort you more but I’m exactly the same. Literally so scared to even wee now because I don’t wanna see any more red 😭 Let us know how tomorrow goes x

Yorkshireteabags · 22/06/2022 19:21

I bled from 6 weeks for about 10 days. Had a scan, everything was fine. Its not always bad but frightening x

MrsOnions0 · 22/06/2022 19:47

EPU called and bloods indicate I have miscarriage. Fingers crossed you have a different ending x

Mummyto3children · 22/06/2022 22:27

Ah I’m sorry about that 😔 I hope you have the right support at home. Be kind to
yourself right now, I hope you will be ok soon xx Sending so much love to you 🌸
