I'm so glad to hear your scan went well! I've been a ball of nerves ever since I found out about "missed miscarriages" last week, so I'm thinking of booking a private scan for some piece of mind since my first nhs scan isn't until week 13.

It sounds like we have some of the same symptoms--vaguely queasy and absolutely exhausted. I'm also struggling with brain fog, worsened by the fact that I've stopped taking my ADHD medication :/

@lindenc id really recommend a 8 week scan for ease of mind. The chances of miscarriage after that scan goes well are sooo much lower! And for me at least the first 12 weeks are so odd, with no support really that going to see a good sonographer who’s kind and can answer some questions and really understands what the scan shows is a really great experience!

I think my shooting pains are probably constipation - will have to eat more fibre I guess.

Did they tell you to stop taking ADHD meds? That’s really interesting. What happens when you don’t take those but are not pregnant?

Hey, I'm 8+3 today and had a tiny bit of spotting this morning and completely freaked. Only happened when I wiped and had nothing since. I never had any bleeding with my DD so my only experience of bleeding was my MC.
Conveniently had a private scam already booked for this evening and saw a lovely heartbeat and measuring 8+3 exactly as my dates worked out so really hoping it was just a one off bit of spotting and the rest goes smoothly.

How's everyone else doing?

@RadicalSoul @Bella9992 I’m so pleased your scans went well! I’m 9+1 today and have got a private scan on Sunday- feel very nervous and excited!

i don’t know about anyone else but I really can’t stop eating, it’s the only time I feel human! How are you all?

Cafetropical88 · 15/07/2022 13:38

Hi everyone. I'm 10+4 and got my 12 week scan in a week and a half. I'm still feeling ill after having strong symptoms from the very beginning! Nausea is getting less intense, but I feel constantly light headed and like I can fall asleep instantly no matter what time of day! I'm eating but not as much as I normally would so I've actually lost about half a stone since being pregnant! I wish my appetite would come back so I can start eating for two 😂

Thanks @RadicalSoul. I think I'll book a 8 week scan (next week!) to calm my nerves. Also lol pregnancy constipation is such a joy - is there anything about the first trimester that isn’t uncomfortable??

Generally ADHD meds are a hard no for pregnancy since they’re stimulants, though it’s one of those things that a lot of people do anyway and there’s not been much (if any) evidence of a negative impact. I imagine most research on stimulant use during pregnancy involves people who are abusing stimulants rather than those taking 10mg of Dexedrine or whatever.

For me being unmedicated means a lot of trouble with focusing on tasks and with general motivation and emotional regulation. Combined with fatigue, hormones, and nausea it means I’m getting about 1-2 hours of actual work done each day and spend the rest of my time wandering around the house crying and leaving cupboard doors open. I was told that my midwife could advise me on how to manage this (with or without meds) but my first midwife appt. isn't until August.

@Cafetropical88 and @lindenc how did you Scans go? I have my 12 week one with the nhs in a week and am super nervous. I know chances are it’ll all be fine (because it was at 8 weeks) but that’s just me now 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hoping everyone is doing well!!

Cafetropical88 · 30/07/2022 00:10

@RadicalSoul the scan went well thanks. They actually put me a bit ahead of where I thought I was! I'm more like 13 weeks now. Still waiting for the results from the blood test for the screening. And I've been referred to the fetal medicine unit due to a health problem I have, which sounds worrying but at least I get an extra scan in a few more weeks.
