Hi all! I’m due on 16th Feb- excited but feel anxious about every twinge! I’m 6wks today and have my first midwife apt on the 11th July….I’ve booked an early scan and will be 9 and a bit weeks by then!
It’s my first pregnancy, I’ve got some nausea, sore boobs and fatigue so far….

Pinkcloud5 · 23/06/2022 20:31

Hi all,

So glad I found this thread! Hope you don’t mind me joining, I’m currently 4 weeks + 3 (due Feb 28) first time baby, and it first time trying so want expecting it to happen so soon (have PCOS and really doctor me told me I’d likely need clomid to conceive!) feeling very overwhelmed, but comforting to see so many of us are feeling the same. Think I’m going to book an early scan at 6-7 weeks to ease some anxiety.

@Dani1996 I’ve also got sore boobs, fatigue and a bit of nausea too.

Ive noticed the EMU of my pregnancy so waiting to get my appointment date for 8 weeks - how long did this take to come through?! Feels like so far away. The days are going so slowly!

Hoping we all get through the first trimester ok! If anyone has any advice I’m all ears :)

blibbyblobb · 24/06/2022 19:06

@Dani1996 im due 17th February and have exactly the same symptoms! I am thinking of booking a scan when aroun 9/10 weeks to ease my anxiety. Ive had one miscarriage and one healthy baby boy

RadicalSoul · 24/06/2022 20:01

I’m due on the 19th of Feb. Have had two miscarriages so far so not letting myself engage with it too much. I did have an early 6 weeks scan yesterday which even showed a heart beat (apparently often not the case yet at 6week) to get some reassurance and will go again for 8/9 weeks. Feels so strange that there is no support from the NHS in that time until the first scan in week 12. So much going on emotionally, would really benefit from someone professional to talk to and get reassurance from…

My symptoms so far: sore boobs, have been super thirsty all the time for a good week now, lots of weird feelings around my belly, and since today I’m constantly hungry!

blibbyblobb · 24/06/2022 20:30

@radicalsoul so sorry to hear about your losses, praying this one is healthy. I agree that having to wait so long for a scan can be very anxiety provoking. Are you aware that you can self refer to your local mental health services and should be prioritised due to being pregnant, they also prioritise anyone who has been pregnant in the last 12 months, be that miscarriage or abortion. I would recommend it especially if you are struggling 💕

blibbyblobb · 24/06/2022 20:33

@radicalsoul i apologies i have read your comment wrong. I assumed u meant mental health support for the anxiety/reassurance but now that i have re read thr message im guessing you meant a professional in pregnancy care. Sorry.. I blame baby brain

RadicalSoul · 24/06/2022 20:49

@blibbyblobb so kind of you and nothing to apologise for!! I didn’t know that and I think it’s valuable information to share with everyone! I’m doing ok actually from a mental health perspective. Luckily I have great support and am also a trained counsellor myself (so self-care is a top priority). It does shock me though how little support medical or emotional there is for mothers to be, especially in the first trimester which is the most risky. Mumsnet was blessing for me and still is. Such a lovely and supportive community!

Hey guys found out I was pregnant and due on 6th feb 23.

Had some light spotting for 2 days 2 weeks ago and again last week which has turned into full period for the past 6 days.

Had a early scan just after the spotting got worse which showed there was a gestatIonal sac With a yolk sac With no feral pole.

They advised everything was at normal but too early for a heart beat.

since the scan period like bleeding has not stopped, which is followed with cramp pains.

I have been reading up and these symptoms are a sign of miscarriage however some people mentioned they do have these symptoms and everything is fine.

just wondering if anyone else has had anything like this.

first time being pregnant.

blibbyblobb · 24/06/2022 21:01

@radicalsoul oh wow im a trained therapist too! But yes i totally agree with you there should be more support and better service for the first 12 weeks

@Victoria i am so sorry to hear about this, it is a scary experience. From my experience it can go either way, and i know its difficult to be positive. My first pregnancy i had spotting and that led to miscarriage, my second one i had more blood, cramps yet gave birth to a healthy baby. I understand the wait of this is hard but please do look after yourself 💕 Sending positive vibes 💕

Victoria98 · 24/06/2022 21:26

It is so hard not knowing. X

RadicalSoul · 24/06/2022 22:44

Victoria98 · 24/06/2022 23:26

Thank you x

lindenc · 25/06/2022 06:00

Wow! I just found out yesterday I'm pregnant for the first time, 4+3 (due feb 28th). I'm really excited and relieved to see so many people going through the same nerves as me!

Dani1996 · 25/06/2022 15:26

@RadicalSoul @Victoria98 so sorry to hear you’ve had such a difficult time!

How is everyone feeling today? My nausea is really ramping up, was constantly thinking I was gonna vom this morning!

lindenc · 25/06/2022 15:30

Mildly nauseous, completely overshadowed by the fact that I am crying once ever half hour 🥹

dogmum00 · 25/06/2022 15:38

Hey I'm due 28.02, I'm 4+5. I haven't got any symptoms yet, had slightly sore boobs last couple of days but they seem better today. I've booked a private scan for 8 weeks as I had a mc in December. For those of you've who have sickness, when did it start? What other symptoms are people having?

lindenc · 25/06/2022 16:02

Does the NHS offer anything before 12 weeks other than a phone consult?

Can someone fill me in on the process of booking a private scan?

Ballyboo1986 · 25/06/2022 16:12

@dogmum00 I have no real symptoms right now at 5 weeks. Last pregnancy I got hyperemesis at 6 weeks on so hopefully not as bad this time!

dogmum00 · 25/06/2022 16:15

@lindenc nhs won't do a scan before 12 weeks unless you've had 3 mc, that's what I was told. Only booking in appointment by phone and then they see you to take bloods, blood pressure etc. With private scan you just need to find one local and book it online. Local to me is Window to the Womb and Ultrasound Direct

dogmum00 · 25/06/2022 16:16

@Ballyboo1986 how long did it last for you with your last pregnancy? Hopefully you won't get it this time

Ballyboo1986 · 25/06/2022 16:27

dogmum00 · 25/06/2022 16:16

Eagtess3 · 26/06/2022 06:09

RadicalSoul · 26/06/2022 14:52

@lindenc and @dogmum00 after my second miscarriage I pushed the early pregnancy unit to admit they would do an early scan for me if I just walked in during my next pregnancy. It’s also written in the Nice guidance “Although additional care for women with recurrent miscarriage is not included in the scope of the guideline, the Guideline Development Group recognised that it is common clinical practice to allow these women to self-refer to an early pregnancy assessment service and wished this to remain the case.”

I’ve not tried it yet but I think they wouldn’t turn someone away if they were showing signs of anxiety and had had one or two miscarriages.
