Signed off sick with stress before mat leave

Hello!

Im currently 25 weeks pregnant, I work for the NHS as a nurse - unfortunately I have experienced some discrimination due to pregnancy at work for quite a while and I've got to a point where I don't feel as though I can work there anymore due to stress.
I have reported everything to HR and I am currently going through the grievance process.
I am worried that if I am signed off work with 'stress' that it may be perceived as a non-pregnancy related illness.
Does anyone know what happens if I am signed off sick and it isn't pregnancy related - is mat leave still triggered at 4 weeks? and will my maternity pay be affected?
Thank you for your advice

Check your policy, I work public sector (not NHS but NHS payroll) and I was off sick from 31 weeks pregnant with stress, it went down as sickness until 36 weeks when they automatically start mat leave if you are already off for sick leave. I had ds at 37 weeks so that was fine by me. I also had kept my pregnancy secret and only one person in HR + my manager knew and still all ok, it wasn't triggered any earlier or later.

PS hope you are ok and ring your NHS payroll person if needs be who can advise, hope you feel better
