High NT

I had a scan Thursday at 13 weeks and was told baby’s nt was high. I don’t know what to do I keep being told to have hope but it’s not easy. I’ve read people have normal healthy baby’s after this but the reading was 13.8mm so I’ve got a gut feeling it’ll be bad news. I don’t know what to do 😢
I have a rescan on Tuesday with a consultant at foetal medicine so will know more then but it feels like a lifetime away.

Sorry to hear you've had this experience 😥 We also had a high NT reading at our 12 week scan on Friday so I'm feeling pretty sad and confused right now. Ours was 8mm which they said was over double what it should be and they didn't sound like there was much hope that it would turn out to be 'nothing'. We're going back for our consultant scan with foetal medicine on Wednesday and I'm really worried that it's just going to be more bad news. I just wondered how you'd got on with yours and what are they actually looking for when they do the scan? Hope you're doing ok.

Oh I'm so sorry, mine was 6.8mm and my son was born perfectly healthy I had cvs.

It's the most dreadful time I'm so sorry for you.

I had a scan and cvs test last Tuesday and received the results on the Thursday. Sadly my baby has Turner syndrome and has a very small percentage of making it, I am booked in this weekend for a termination. I have read stories of people who’s babies had 8mm measurements and they were fine, I’m hoping this is the same for you if you need to talk I am here. I have been speaking with someone who went through this in January and they have been a big help and support.

I didn't want to read and run. We too had this situation at 12 weeks. Got sent to fetal medicine etc and more scans etc. They wanted to do cvs but because my placenta and bowel I think? Were in wrong position they couldn't sent us home to come back following week. This continued until we were booked in for amnio instead but sadly at that point she hadn't made it. 16weeks. I then delivered her the following week :(
Sending deepest hugs and thoughts. Subsequently had a further 2 successful pregnancies.

angel0071987 · 27/06/2022 13:33

Meant to add after a post-mortem it was found she had turners. If we had found out via cvs or amnio I'd have likely continued the pregnancy if She survived as on the comparison of the nasties it's not the worst to have. But everyone has their own opinions Flowers

Melissaallison94 · 27/06/2022 21:28

We were told baby’s with Turner syndrome only have a 1-3% chance of making to it birth, they would also need checks on their heart and kidneys, could be blind, could be deaf, stunted in growth and infertile if they did make it so we’ve made the decision to terminate as we felt this was the kindest way for our daughter 😢

Hi please can anyone give me advise I went for my first scan I was only 11 week 2 days but NT measured 4.4mm and I had my NiPT bloods and have come back as high risk am so worried I am seing a fetal doctor tomorrow I have had a private scan while waiting it has gone down to 4mm but I just need any advise if possible x

Eb2891 · 21/03/2023 17:12

I'm going through something similar but I don't know my measurements. How are you getting on?

hannah202 · 25/03/2023 12:34

Hi everyone,
I had my NT scan yesterday and my measurements were 4mm. They also did my blood work that came back today showing low risk for Edwards and Patau but my Bhcg is showing 2.6 when it should be around 1. I’m 30 years old and this is my first pregnancy, I never expected to be given such high risk odds (1:3 chance for Down syndrome) , I’m so worried and can’t stop crying. Please can someone give me some hope and also if you had similar stats what happened in the end? I have a CVS booked for Monday.

To those just posting, sorry you’re going through this and I really hope things turn out okay. But given that this thread was started by @Melissaallison94 you probably need to read that first and at least acknowledge the incredibly painful experience she has shared here or start a new thread given that this one is old.
I hope that time has been kind and taken away some of that pain @Melissaallison94

Viviennemary · 25/03/2023 20:36

I agree. We don't know the outcome of the first poster. So best to start a new thread. Its quite a long time from the first post.

Sadly we had to terminate our pregnancy last year due to Turner’s syndrome. I feel ok to talk about it now with others to help. I understand how you all feel and having to make a potentially awful and devastating decision. I am now 16 weeks pregnant with my rainbow and everything seems to be going ok so far however I am very anxious this time and feel guilty that I can’t be excited.
