Hi guys, I have aquestion as I can't find an answer online anywhere.
I just sent off all the forms I need to get maternity allowance and I believe I am okay to get maternity allowance by doing the calculations on the GOV UK website.

My work have put me to go on maternity by 3rd of July but it could take upto 20 days to hear back about my allowance from the goverment. Can I still go onto my maternity leave on 3rd July if I haven't heard back from the goverment yet? And would they backdate it if I heard back a few days later? According to the maternity allowance calculator I will be allowed to get maternity allowance so it should all be fine right?

They should be able to backdate it. I had mine backdated as i told them what date I wanted it from and due to backlog it was passed that when they processed it so i had the backdated payment paid in with my first payment.

I thought so, I just wanted to double check as couldn't see an answer online and says they should backdate it but wasn't 100%. Thank you!
