Anyone have a 4 week ultrasound?

I’ve just had a very early ultrasound due to previous losses and wanting progesterone prescription, so the EPU did a scan as I was there.
they didn’t see a sac which I was hoping to see but did think it probably was too early - I ovulated 2 weeks ago but did get a positive pregnancy test 3/4 days ago so it must have implanted fast enough.

the insensitive male doctor started saying that it’s a threatened ectopic and I suppose are erring on the side of caution but after 2 miscarriages this year and TTC for 2 years, it was really upsetting.

did this happen to anyone else and all turned out ok??

I'd have thought four weeks was too early to see anything, I had one at 5 weeks and they couldn't see anything - I'm now 18 weeks with a healthy baby.

When I thought it was an ectopic pregnancy they did my bloods to make sure the HGC was raising and did another scan in two weeks.

Hope it works out for you, op.

It's really very unusual to be scanned that early for this very reason - was this the NHS as it's impossible even with a life threatening history of ectopic to get a scan this early - at 2 weeks post ovulation your hcg is likely in the tens rather than thousands which you would need to see a sac

I think that's incredibly early. I'm under a miscarriage clinic and the earliest they do a scan is six weeks plus 3. I'd guess they might see sooner for suspected ectopic. Please try not to worry.

Yeah I thought it was so early too but then I couldn’t argue with a doctor - I saw a tiny sac with my son at 5 weeks so didn’t think I’d even get a scan today - now I’m so anxious and upset!’

I ovulated from the left ovary and have had full cramping on that side - did any of you have cramps on one side??

@JoKB
I have had 4 miscarriages and got progesterone from a positive test, but got them through my consultant at the rmc.

Honestly, scans this early only cause more worry. You are only at the stage of a missed period, so there is no way he can say such things to you with any real level of certainty.

Will they be doing another scan? Give it a couple of weeks + and you should be able to see the sac and a pregnancy forming in it.

Don’t worry

@Snowflakes1122
thanks! Yeah they did HCG and they went from 50 on Wednesday to 200 today so when the doctor rang with that news he had changed his tune a lot - and said to come back for a scan next Friday rather than next Monday, which was what he said originally.
so much stress and worry when it shouldn’t have been!!

I did, by accident, because for a variety of reasons I thought I must already be 8+ weeks.

Turns out I was only 4 weeks and no, they couldn't see anything. Just that the lining looked thick - but that could be getting ready for a period. No indication of pregnancy at all that they could see. I felt like an idiot 😄

I then had a scan at 9 weeks and 14 weeks and all was fine. I'm 19 weeks now.
Your hcg going up quickly is a good sign.

Yes. I live abroad where they scan you all the time. I happened to have discovered I was pregnant just before seeing my gynae at 4 weeks. She scanned me and couldn't see anything. Currently breastfeeding that invisible little dot!

@Thejoyfulstar @ALittleBitofVitriol thats so reassuring - thanks! They told me to come back next week at 5 weeks but I might try and wait for 6 weeks so that its more clear
