30w growth scan sonographer possibly gave the game away?

Told the sonographer we didn't know what we were having and wanted the surprise... she told us to look away when she was around that area for the leg measurement and then when she moved back up top to get a picture of the face for us and baby wasn't playing ball she said "don't think he's going to give us anything are you bud?"

Any stories where you thought the surprise had been given away and this wasn't the case when baby was born?

Btw I might add - we don't mind at all either way what we are having and are just overjoyed to be having a baby! Just wanted the surprise on the day Smile

They generally refer to baby as he/she but not according to its sex. It really doesn't mean you're having a boy.

@siaa congratulations on your pregnancy either way! DH and I wanted a surprise just like you and at the 20'week scan sonographer similar to your scan said something along the lines "oh she's being stubborn!"

To add- DC is a beautiful 10 month old baby girl now ❤️

Oh I've done this so many times - referred to a baby as he/she when the parents don't want to know! But it's always just been arbitrary, not the child's actual sex. I typically default to "he" but then feel sexist so some days call them all "she". I try and remember to tell parents at the start "today I'm calling all the babies 'she'; it doesn't mean yours is a girl" but often I forget to say that. It just doesn't come naturally to call them all "it" or "they".
I wouldn't put too much stock in it, OP. Oh

They all tend to refer to them as a he or she just for the fact if not making a mistake x

I had a few growth scans past 30 weeks and DD was referred to as “he” throughout (same sonographer) even though we’d already found out at 20 weeks. She’s definitely a girl though 💕

Ice read some sonographers refer to the baby as he not to get mixed up with the mother a she

Nicer than calling the baby it. Doesn't mean anything.

Thank you everyone! Not long to go now until we find out anyway Smile
