Hey guys,

Hope everyone is doing great.
I found our 2 weeks ago that I am pregnant.
I went today to my second ultrasound and it showed an empty Gestational sack. It measures 6w 4d (GS 16mm) The doc gave me pills to end the pregnancy at home. I just feel it's quite early to do this. Should I just go for it or wait?

Hi @Ari0502 I had an ERPC to end a blighted ovum pregnancy 4 weeks ago. To confirm it, I had 2 scans 2 weeks apart. My GS was only 7mm though so we had to wait to be rescanned to confirm I hadn't got my dates wrong. From what I've read, when the GS gets to a certain size and there is no foetal pole, the doctors can confirm that this type of MC has occurred. I'm so sorry. If you are concerned though, definitely please follow up with your Dr. Perhaps request a second scan, particularly as you seem very early on in pregnancy xxxx

Thank you for sharing your experience. And I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope you are feeling better now and are healing from the operation.

You are right, it seems very early and 2nd opinion would be good in this situation. I just find it very rushed decision as I am now sitting at home, holding the pills in my hand after this her 1min u/s diagnosis. I saw the 'official' size for GS (in some countries) is 25mm when you can say for certain that it is a blighted ovum. Mine is 16mm (matches my weeks as well)

I'll call my Dr and see if we can schedule another scan.
