How long after coming off contraception did you get pregnant?

Trying to not freak out but its been 2 months and still AF hasn't arrived. Worrying how long it will take to "get back to normal" after having my implant removed. I'm 28, overthinker at the best of times and just want to know when I should be concerned as I was always told that once you come off your implant you can get pregnant straight away. I've done tests, not pregnant and just worrying I'm going to be waiting a while to get back to "normal" again. I would have done this months ago if I knew AF would take so long to return!

Hi, I came off the implant last July and didn't have a period for 7 months after that, drs wouldn't do anything until 6 months post removal as apparently that is a 'normal' length of time. I'm almost at a year after removal and only two periods in that time so hopefully will start fertility testing soon.
Like you I would also have had mine removed earlier if I had have known how long it could take.
Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones who gets pregnant before AF arrives!
I recommend testing once a week, same day every week using an internet cheapie 🤞🤞

It took me 7 months to get pregnant after having the Implant out x

YungDumbThrills · 15/06/2022 11:46

It was 6 months after I stopped the pill that o fell pregnant

BusterGonad · 15/06/2022 11:59

9 months for me, I was on microgynon, I was a healthy weight and 29 when I got pregnant. We weren't really trying just letting nature take its course. So no stress or sex on certain days etc.

cloudydays2 · 15/06/2022 12:01

I fell pregnant 1 and a half years after coming off the implant, I was then on the mini pill and fell pregnant after my first period off of it. 20 the first time and 25 the second time x

S0220 · 15/06/2022 12:02

With my first, I fell pregnant after 2 months of coming off the pill. I was on microgynon. I was on it for about 10 years+. Wasn't actively trying so to speak, we were just letting nature take its course.

I'm currently pregnant again (only 5 weeks) but this time it's taken us 6 months since being off the pill. Not actively trying the whole 6 months, initially quite relaxed about it. I would say 2 months of actively trying.

Littlebirdyouaresosweet · 15/06/2022 12:03

I had a dc 9 months and 10 days post removal.. It was a shocker I tell you.

Lollypop0101 · 15/06/2022 12:57

I know it's different with the implant but coming off the pill (was on for 10 years and never had an accident) I got pregnant 7 weeks later (age 26) so quite quickly, my period actually returned to normal straight away though! We were actively trying so I was doing all the ovulation strips etc.

One of my friends had her coil removed at the start of December then had a positive pregnancy test by nye! 😱

It varies so much person to person, good luck!!

1st baby I fell pregnant straight away before I got my first period after coming off contraception. 2nd baby took 3 months after coming off, 3rd baby took a month….pregnant now with 4th and fell pregnant accidentally - morning after pill failed. It’ll happen sooner than u think x

CoalCraft · 15/06/2022 16:58

First time around I came off the combined pill, had a withdrawal bleed and then another bleed (period?) about three weeks later. BFP five weeks or so after that.

Second time I came off the mini-pill, had a very brief bleed and then BFP five weeks later.

baxtersm · 15/06/2022 17:27

I've had the implant in twice and both times I got pregnant straight away after coming off it.. not even a period.. just a BFP 4 weeks or so later!

FeedMeSantiago · 16/06/2022 08:55

I stopped the pill on 30 May and started TTC. My pill was a 3 weeks on, 1 week off job so the last pill was taken on 22 May and I had a withdrawal bleed on 26 May.

Period started last night so 3 weeks after the withdrawal bleed.

FeedMeSantiago · 16/06/2022 08:57

I was excited last night thinking it might be an implantation bleed and I'd conceived quickly but it feels more like a period today.

I know one person who conceived in their first month off contraception but most of my friends with DC took around 3-6 months.

winterbabyrose · 16/06/2022 12:48

I had my implant out early March 2021, had two periods, then fell pregnant with DD who arrived early February 2022.

Keha · 16/06/2022 12:51

I wasn't coming off the implant...but of the combined pill I got pregnant straight away, off the mini pill it took 3 or 4 months for cycle to return and got pregnant next month. I do think I was quite lucky.

mummyh2016 · 16/06/2022 13:55

Combined pill was 3 cycles, mini pill was 4 cycles. Which isn't a long time at all but at the time it felt like ages. I think you have it drilled into you so much about having to use contraception you think you'll get caught as soon as you stop taking it, I know I did first time around!

Hullabaloo31 · 16/06/2022 14:16

First time, 6 months. Subsequent times, reaally fast. It's like my body worked it out!

TheHopefulMum · 16/06/2022 15:28

DC1 was conceived the cycle after stopping the combined pill, DC2 was conceived whilst on the combined pill and DC3 was conceived the cycle after coming off the minipill.

We have been very fortunate and wishing you all the baby luck! Smile

Haxeri · 16/06/2022 15:44

Implant out middle of February, first period started March 1st, positive pregnancy test March 28th. I do believe I am one of the lucky ones

DramaAlpaca · 16/06/2022 15:47

It took me eleven months after coming off the pill to get pregnant.

I got pregnant with my two younger DC in the first month and the fourth month. I didn't go back on the pill after stopping it.

Sassy144 · 17/06/2022 06:02

Miraculously got pregnant 1 month after coming off minipill, but sadly it didn't work out. Then got pregnant again 4 months later and currently 10 weeks with my fingers crossed 🤞 all contraception and bodies are different though!
