What's everyone's experiences of a membrane sweep??
I am 40 weeks tomorrow & my midwife wants to give me one but I didn't have to have one with my 1st baby so I'm very anxious about it.
Any help please

I had one on Friday at 39 weeks, it was absolutely fine, no different than a smear.
Not painful and minimal discomfort.

I'm going to have another today when I see the obstetrician hopefully as don't want to go overdue if I can help it.

I've had 2 without success. Personally they were no more unpleasant than smears. Please don't worry.

I found it uncomfortable, but not painful. They wiggle their finger around up there for about 30 seconds which doesn’t sound long but feels like forever.

That being said, I wouldn’t refuse it if I was offered one again during this pregnancy because I’m convinced that it did get things started for me. Started losing my plug immediately and went into labour a couple of days later.
