Just wondering if anyone had identical twins who were small during pregnancy. I’m 25 weeks, and been told they have severe SGA and are hovering around the 3rd centile. There’s only a 3.9% size difference between them so they are both small.
I had a growth scan with Dopplers on Wednesday which showed absent EDF in one cord, however my follow up Doppler the next day was fine so the consultant thinks the absent Doppler was maybe babies position/ movement which caused it, although he’s going to keep an eye on it and I have to keep a really close eye on twins movements.
The doctors explained that infections can cause small growth so I’ve had bloods and awaiting results. They also said genetic issues can cause small babies and asked if I wanted amniocentesis, which I’ve declined at the moment as my risks were all very very low and the doctor said nothing anatomy wise suggests a genetic problem.
She did say they could just be small because they are twins , and twins are sometimes small but I’m worried sick there’s something wrong.
The first consultant I saw said they were going to try and get me to 28 weeks before delivering, but the second said close monitoring and he doesn’t think I’ll need to deliver soon.
Anyone else been through the same?
