Hey all, can someone please help me, on my pregnancy notes where it says estimated fetal weight, is that how much they roughly weigh now or how much the sonographer estimates they will weigh at birth?

Thanks in advance Smile

Hi - this should be an estimation of what the baby weighs at the scan.

It's what they're estimated to weigh now. You can actually get it yourself if you Google something like "unborn baby weight calculator" and put the baby's measurements (which should also be on your scan report) into one of the calculators that comes up.

I guess if you wanted an estimate of what they'd weigh at birth you could look at the percentile they're on now and see what that percentile for a newborn would give you. However, it's worth bearing in mind that the scan results aren't always that accurate (there was a thread on this the other day and loads of people had stories of the being told they had small/ massive babies, and then their babies were a perfectly normal size!)
