Preeclampsia signs

Hi, hoping someone can give me a little insight. I'm 28 weeks and have previous preeclampsia.

The last 2 days I've noticed I've had slight swelling in feet, calves, fingers and face. Not enough for most people to notice but I can tell and so can me family. I've also had a few weeks now of regular headaches. I spoke to a midwife about this today and they asked me to go to the day unit to get checked out.

I went in expecting to have a urine and bp check and then be on my way but ended up in for 4 hours.

My pulse was slightly raised and high respiratory rate. Bp was normal and no protein in urine. Had a blood test done which all came back fine. Doctor came to check me over because of my breathlessness and checked my reflexes which she wasn't happy with, she said they were brisk? I have to go back next week to have another check over by the day unit.

I don't really understand whether they're concerned or just being cautious. Does this sound like something is starting up?

If anyone has any experience or insight that would be really appreciated. I've left feeling more worried than I went in!

oh OP not to worry you but my reflexes being brisk were a sign of preeclampsia for me, commenced 3 weeks in hospital before my twins were finally delivered! However I wasn’t horrifically poorly (I think because they hauled me in and kept me there tbh) and the midwives explained they’d rather keep a really close eye on things. Hopefully they’ll be happy to monitor you as an outpatient! Thinking good thoughts for you x

Thanks so much @doubledup for replying, did you have any other preeclampsia symtoms? They said they were looking for a specific reflex in my foot which I didn't have? Do you know whether you had this?

I had quite high BP and a bit of protein in my urine but I have pre existing issues that could’ve caused this so that wasn’t such a concern. Don’t remember a foot reflex mine was to do with my lower legs and knees? But whatever they needed me to do my body wasn’t doing it! I never had swelling or headaches and coincidentally my BP started playing up at about 28 weeks too. I wouldn’t fret too much if they’ve sent you home on instruction to come back they must feel you’re safe at home and hopefully by your next appt all will be resolved x

Thanks for that! I'm sure all is fine, just expected a brief in and out!

I had a pre-eclampsia check today as I have swollen hands/fingers and ankles, slightly elevated BP for me but still within 'normal' limits. The midwife asked me to do a urine sample and take it into the hospital for a PCR (lab check) it came back fine within 3 hours.

She thinks the swelling is normal pregnancy swelling as it's also been a hot day.

Never heard of reflexes being an indicator? What does this mean?

I think unless you have protein in you urine, high BP/ and/or swelling it isn't PE? Did the Dr not discuss the results with you?

@VeronicaFranklin the doctor did but she gave me so much information I left a little confused. She seemed happy to let me go until the reflex thing and then changed her mind and wanted me back the following week. Didn't know if it was an indicator something might be going on with preeclampsia or whether it could have been something else?

I'm sure it's all nothing haha

Just been looking at my notes and it says plgf 4. This can't be right can it? The doctor told me my blood test was fine. Anyone know anything about placental growth factor?
