Pre birth grooming/self care

This is very vain, but I’m conscious that grooming/self care is going to fall down the priority list for at least the first few months after my baby is born. I feel better when I don’t look like I’ve been dragged through a bush backwards so I’m booking in last appointments this month before my due date.

What do you wish you had done before baby?

I’m planning on

  • Haircut/highlights

  • Medical pedicure

  • Dentist/hygienist

  • Lashes tinted

Is there anything else anyone can recommend from experience?

I actually tinted my eyebrows before I had my recent baby and got my roots done.

Hair done for sure as it’s nearly impossible to leave your baby for that long especially if breastfeeding. I’d also recommend you and your other half enjoy some time together going out for a meal/ going cinema / spa day. We don’t have a lot of family and since having kids we NEVER get any time to ourselves to enjoy these little luxuries without having kids in tow xx

Agree with @Jaaxe
Enjoy date nights and going out for walks with your partner, watching movies etc...
Definitely get your hair done and the pedicure.
Also wish I had gone for a massage just to have some proper me time!
Hygienist and dentists is actually really important in pregnancy so do it asap!

SunnySideUp2020 · 09/06/2022 14:29

Ah and do the deep cleaning and clearing in your house... you will appreciate when baby is here!

BrightOrion · 09/06/2022 14:36

Definitely getting my hair done and my eyebrows and eyelashes done! Probably a pedicure too.

I had a haircut, a manicure and pedicure, and a Hollywood wax 😂 I also had a couple of sessions of acupuncture and made sure I went to pregnancy yoga regularly so I felt as zen as possible!

DH and I also went out for dinner a lot - we made our way down a list of places local to us that we'd been meaning to try and hadn't yet got around to.

If I'd been more organised I'd have booked the dental hygienist too, but I only had a check up in February so didn't get around to it.

I'm due on 17th June and I've had my last hair appointment last week, full Hollywood wax (ouch!) and a home manicure and pedicure, other than that they're getting me as I am 🤣

tealandteal · 10/06/2022 03:58

I am due next week and this week has been my pamper/prep week. I have had hair cut and colour, a really nice pedicure where they soak your feet etc, lash lift and tint and eyebrow wax and tint.

I had planned a planned c-section and booked all my lovely appts for the couple of weeks mat leave beforehand. Then she arrived 6 weeks early and honestly i couldn't have given two shits about the way i looked at time😁but would have deff been nice to get a bit of a pamper beforehand

Dentist and hair cut is a good idea because you won't have time at first.

It's the exhaustion that will make you look bad, and that's kind of unavoidable.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 10/06/2022 04:50

I'm not vain at all but I got gel nails on my toes and it's been lovley having nice feet. A dentist check up is also a great idea and a hair cut too.

I'm sadly looking at my remaining big toes with gel polish still on them, doing well considering my baby is 6 months old in a few weeks!
