Clearblue weeks wrong?

My LMP was 1st may, making me what i think is 5w 4d.

So i did a clearblue @ 4w 2d and it said 1-2 (i thought i would have said 2-3🥴)

Anyway, i did another 2 days later @ 4w 4d and it said 2-3, so i was relieved!!

I did another today 5w 4d expecting a 3+ but it still says 2-3??

Anyone else had a similar experience?? I have had a miscarriage previously so not getting my hopes up but also trying not to panic.

Clear blue relies on HCG which is not an exact measurement as every ones is slightly different.

to get a 2-3 week ready your urine HCG level needs to be a minimum of 153 but for a 3+ it needs to be a minimum of 2753 so you may just be a couple of numbers under.

also did you use first morning urine? As that would make the reading more reliable?

Yeah i used first morning urine. I will buy another pack today and retest on Saturday.

I shouldn't of even used these test in the first place. I didnt bother with my second. i think they do cause panic for no reason!

You really don't need to retest. You're pregnant! Congratulations 😊 if you scroll through the pregnancy or conception boards you'll see this is really common and a cause for completely unnecessary anxiety. Step away from the tests!

This happened to me too. It’ll show up 3+ soon don’t worry, Im 10.5 weeks now x

I agree with whoever said step away from the tests!! I did this too with my last pregnancy and then worried myself sick about scan dates when they were a week behind what I thought I should have been.. not one Doctor told me it was anything to worry about but it didn't stop me! Baby is now ten weeks and perfect in every way!

@Oneforposy7 Ahhh i know! trust me i keep saying this to myself 🙈 but now i feel like i need to see that 3+. I think my partner will talk me out of it to be fair...

@baxtersm its hard aint it! I think i might just book for a private early scan around 8/9 weeks. Ive seen a lot of people saying they never even got 3+ and their babies are here perfectly fine 🤷🏽‍♀️

Congratulations OP. Those digital tests give weeks since conception so at 5wks 2-3 is probably right as those first two weeks in the way pregnancies are calculated includes time before you were even pregnant!

The week display digital tests cause so much needless anxiety that I honestly don't think they should be allowed to be sold!! There's a post like yours almost every single day on here. Just step away from the tests, celebrate the BFP and book a reassurance scan for a few weeks time.

I never went off the digital tests, preferred the stick tests and just followed line progression.

@GrowBabyGrow Thank you! Definitely not gonna test now and will book a reassurance scan instead. The unnecessary stress isnt worth it!

@Lolly1987 i did the same with my second. Ive been taking the amazon cheapies too and the line progression seems good so hopefully everything okay 🤞

I got the 3+ when I was about 5 and a half weeks nearly 6 weeks pregnant. I bet you get yours in the next day or 2 if you keep buying the tests which I don’t recommend as I spent about £50 on them and now wish I hadn’t 😂

@Jaaxe im supposed be 6 week tomorrow and still says 2-3🥴 my partner come home yesterday with a pack of 2 as he didnt read my text telling him to not bother picking any up, so i did one this morning. Surprisingly im not overly worried and im just thinking what ever happens is out of my control x

Please try not to stress I know you probably will but I had this with my second pregnancy, kept getting told different weeks with those clear blue and it was so stressful I was worried I was miscarrying but basically it relies on concentration of hcg. If you drink loads of water and soon after have a wee and do one of those tests it will be really diluted the hcg content and so basically the test will likely give you a wrong estimate of gestation.

I learnt my lesson and with my third, I didn't buy those clearblue ones and just used a cheap one for poundland. I would recommend staying away from clearblue with the dates as they are more stress than they are worth! In fact you don't need to repeatedly test but if u do, the cheap poundland ones are the way forward! Best of luck to you and your growing family x

@Somewhereinfragglerock i was really worried yesterday but today im quite calm. Ive read a lot of posts from people who have had the same experience and i just think now whatever will be will be 😄. Hopefully my reassurance scan has good news!

I did one at 5+2 and got 2-3 weeks. Four days later I had a blood test and my HCG was 23,000, meaning that when I did the Clearblue digital it should have been high enough to get 3+.

I think if it's still showing 1-2 at 5 weeks then it's probably a sign that you're going to have a MC, but otherwise they aren't all that reliable.

@babyjellyfish i think i might ring EPU on Monday for a blood test. I have gotten 2-3 since last Thursday so for 9 days, i thought by now it should be 3+ but like you said not all reliable. I suppose i will find out one way or another so will just take each day as it comes now 😌

Hey @2kidmum just checked my calendar for u (as I documented the days I got 1-2,2-3 and 3+ On clear blue) and I got 2-3 from 26th April till 4th May….this is also 9 days. I then had a 3+ the very next day…I then had a scan on 12 th may which had strong heartbeat and matched my dates perfectly and I haven’t had any issues since so I am guessing I’m still pregnant, due my 12 week scan I’m around a week. I don’t think you have anything to worry about as previous poster has said too the blood tests hcg are so much higher too I’ve also had it where hcg wasn’t enough to get 3+ on clear blue but my blood test was so high and went on to have healthy pregnancy’s. So long as you don’t have bleeding expect all is well congratulations!

@Jaaxe Just done my last CB and still says 2-3 so now on day 10 🙄 i have been doing to cheap ones off amazon too and the lines do seem darker, ive attached a pic.

The bottom one is todays. Ive done quite a few 🤣 this pregnancy wasn't planned so i found out quite early as i was expecting my period!

@2kidmum I really don’t think you have anything to worry about with these tests they are getting darker so your hcg is increasing, you could book an early scan to see. I ended up having one in epu as I had some brown discharge and thought maybe I was miscarrying but nothing since and scan was all fine.
Yeah I found out really early too as mine wasn’t planned either, in fact I took the morning after pill so I was waiting to see if it had worked!! 🤪 how are you feeling about it all?

Im feeling ok, i was a bit overwhelmed at first as i am my sisters maid of honour in July so wanted to have a drink🤣, we are also going away at the end of July and in September. We always said we wanted another baby but would wait until next year and obviously life had other plans 🥰. How are you feeling?

Had a blood test today and my HCG come back at 1850. Not feeling too good now as id of thought it would have been way higher.

The threshold for 2-3 on a CB is 153 so 10 days later should at least be 3000+. Ive been referred for a scan at EPU 🤞

did they say they were concerned about ur blood results? It sounds ok for 6 weeks so long as it’s doubling every 3 days I think it is? Can they do another one to check it’s increasing?

@Jaaxe no not said they are concerned, they said if its below 1500 they will redo bloods in 48 hours if over will book me for a scan at EPU.

Its not the number itself im concerned about as i believe its within range for 6 weeks, its the fact that its probably not doubled every 48 hours. Im unsure if every 3 days is okay?

They should ring me tomorrow for a time to go in this week so we will see x

Thought id update... i had a scan at EPU today and unfortunately there is a sac but no baby. My HCG has been rising very slowly but will probably start to go down soon and i will more than likely need a D&C ☹️ x
