Can my child have chicken pox vaccine if I’m pregnant?

Anyone know if it’s safe for my daughter to go ahead with chicken pox vaccine if I’m due to have c section 5 days later? I’ve been scouring the internet and mention avoiding immunosuppressed people as it’s a live vaccine….

If you are immune to chicken pox yes if not then definitely not.

I'd say no as it's a live vaccine isn't it?

I hope so! My 1 year old had his first one 3 weeks ago!

(I had CP as a child)

I’ve spent ages trying to figure it out but not getting anywhere - have emailed the clinic she’s getting the jab at and will report back.

Had this reply from the practice nurse:

“They do advise that for 2weeks after the vaccine they are not in close contact with immunosuppressed individuals such as :

-People undergoing high dose radiotherapy/chemotherapy
-People on high dose steroids that suppress their immune system
-People with HIV etc

People who are fit and well are absolutely fine to be around her but it is advised that an immunosuppressed individual doesn’t have close contact ie sleeping together living closely etc. as they could catch chickenpox from her especially if they have not had it before also.

There is no issue with you having a C section especially as 5 days later”.

so looks like it’s okay! Hoping baby will be covered as I have immunity (had it checked in previous pregnancy). In hindsight I guess it’s no different to her catching chicken pox at nursery and being around the baby…
