Diabetes/ GD

I had gd in my last pregnancy 7 years ago. I've had yearly checks since and all was fine until the last couple of years when they came back prediabetic.

I'm 14 weeks pregnant now and had a blood test to check my levels at around 6 weeks pregnant. I've been trying to chase the results but keep being told they are not on the system...

I have been booked in for a GTT this week but I'm now worrying that if I am already diabetic, will the test make me feel really ill? Harm the baby in anyway?

I have been keeping my carbs/sugar intake as low as possible, but it's difficult as I have also been suffering from severe sickness so on days I can eat all I can manage are toast/ crackers etc..

I've tried to get hold of my midwife but she is away at the moment, I've been waiting for a call back from someone else but haven't heard anything.

Can anyone help? I'm wondering if I should cancel the gtt until they find my blood results?

I don’t have the same experience but I’m also being tested in early pregnancy. If your Dr is aware of your pre-diabetes diagnosis, I don’t think they would order a glucose test if it would be dangerous. You should ask though for your piece of mind.

Can you do a finger prick and test your blood sugar for a few days before the glucose test?

Some ladies refuse the GTT second time around if they know it's likely, and instead do a week of a self testing to diagnose

I had the horrific fast then sugary drink test when I was Pg 8 and 6 years ago. This time, they just test for it when they take blood. Will your hospital do this?
