6 days overdue, growth scan... help?

Just looking for a bit of advice / reassurance.

Last Wednesday (40+1) I had an appointment with my midwife who measured my fundal height and found it was the same as my appointment 2 weeks earlier.

Up until this appointment my baby had been measuring on the 90th centile, but with no increase in measurements between the two most recent appointments, this puts the baby now on the 50th centile. This sounds fine in theory, but on the graph it looks as though growth has slowed down.

(Worth mentioning that the same thing happened with my first baby - he was measuring top line all the way through but was born at 40+5, 7lb 15oz, pretty average.)

As per policy, my midwife offered me a growth scan. She said she personally didn't think there was anything to worry about - she didn't think I'd been carrying a 90th centile baby that had suddenly dropped to 50th (it's more likely that the baby had been 50th all along but fundal height measurements were skewed because of baby position or how I carry). Baby heart rate and movements have been fine and consistent throughout pregnancy, still are.

I have planned a home birth and really want to see that through. I accepted the growth scan with the thought that it would be nice to see baby, and if an issue was picked up I could make a decision about induction with that info - but if no issue was picked up, I would resist induction (been there last time, awful experience).

However. Despite the issue being flagged up last Wednesday (40+1), thanks to the lovely long bank holiday weekend, I'm now at 40+6 and haven't received any appointment info for the growth scan. I can't get through to the ultrasound department at my local hospital, my midwife is also unfortunately on holiday this week.

I'm caught between having a huge panic and marching down to the hospital and demanding a scan, and just trying to relax and remember that these fundal height measurements and growth scans are notoriously inaccurate anyway. I do also feel that the delay caused by the bank holiday means that me walking into a hospital now would result in pressure for an induction. The longer this appointment takes to come through, the more pressure there is going to be. I'll be 41 weeks tomorrow, there's only so long I can put it off.

Anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice or reassurance appreciated.

You need to contact either another community midwife/the central office or the day assessment unit. And obv keep trying the scan dept. It's not acceptable that you've not had a scan. When is your next MW appointment?

At my Trust they don't do growth scans past your EDD so you would need to go to the day assessment unit for a medical review, but I'm assuming this isn't the case here.

Hope you get sorted today!
