Wondering if anyone has had this experience with breastfeeding and their periods

I am hoping to full pregnant soon but I don’t think I’m ovulating :( I am breastfeeding twice in the night and sometimes once in the day time. i thought they would of returned by now ahhh…….
Is there anything I can do to bring back my periods?

Breast feeding can have this effect. You may need to stop completely to get your cycle back if you're wanting another baby.

I breastfeed for a year and mine didn’t return for another 4 months after I stopped.

Pinkflipflop85 · 05/06/2022 21:21

Mine disappeared for 3 years with dc1.

Currently 2 and a half years in with dc2 and no sign.

Yep, stop breastfeeding! 😉

DramaAlpaca · 06/06/2022 03:16

You don't need to stop breastfeeding completely if you don't want to.

Try to cut out the night feeds as that is likely to trigger ovulation for some scientific reason I can't remember.

Worked for me anyway.

mrssunshinexxx · 06/06/2022 03:52

I wanted to TTC when my baby was 5 months old I was ebf plus 5:6 times through the night in my gp's words I had 'no chance' unless weaned off boob. Ignored this and got clear blue opks caught ovulation and was pregnant that first month. Haven't had a period since sep 2019

Stopsnowing · 06/06/2022 03:56

Use ovulation sticks to check what is going on. Mine showed my literal phase was too short for pregnancy so I had to stop breastfeeding.

Stopsnowing · 06/06/2022 03:56

Sorry luteal phase.

zoopigi · 06/06/2022 04:40

I had my first period 15 months after my first child (ebf) then the next month it didn't turn up and I was pregnant with my second.

LikeTheFruit · 06/06/2022 04:52

I didn't have a period between my two pregnancies. Was still bf my 16 month old when I became pregnant again, no periods, ovulation sticks were hopeless too. I had started to night wean so maybe an option for you?

mathanxiety · 06/06/2022 05:10

Try night weaning. You can still keep it up during the day if you want to.

You'll be worn out with night wakings and pregnancy anyway.

Switch to water for nighttime drinks. Get your OH involved in nighttime comforting for the 14 month old.

Same here, 15 months breastfeeding, I feed only in the morning & in the evening before going to sleep, still no signs of period approaching whatsoever

Wilburisagirl · 06/06/2022 08:09

I got my period back at 16 months with my first, 14 months with my second and 18 months with my third. I didn't stop breastfeeding and continued to do so throughout both pregnancies so it's not a given that you will have to stop. You may be due to get it back soon!

Charmuzza · 06/06/2022 09:50

Thank you everyone, I will just have to wait and see :)

Mine only returned when I stopped feeding at night (11/12 months). I still feed 2-3 times in the day though

Charmuzza · 06/06/2022 14:46

I have started using them for 2 weeks now and no sign of ovulation, I might be the same as you
