Hi ladies, I was just wondering if anyone knew, I've got a terrible sickness and stomach bug, along with the rest of my house, I've honestly never felt so ill.... I'm 9 weeks pregnant, would this effect baby at all? Xxx

It shouldn’t affect the baby but if you think you are at risk of dehydration then I think it is worth calling out of hours midwife.

I had a horrendous bug in early pregnancy. About 13 weeks I think. I did see a midwife that day as I was so worried about how bad it was and I think she said to go over to the hospital if I couldn’t keep water down. I did manage a little over next 12 hrs so didn’t bother.

However (and this is very rare!) over the coming weeks I developed breathlessness and a cough that wouldn’t go, and eventually turned out to have blood clots in both my lungs ( both baby and I were okay and I was given blood thinners).

Anyway, the consultant and another dr were sitting looking at my notes one day, trying to figure out what caused them (I thought they might have come after a flight at 10 weeks) and they both jumped on the sickness bug when they saw it and seemed really confident this is when the clots developed.

They said that if I’d gone to hospital I’d have been put on a drip, but that also, as standard, I’ve have been given blood thinners as a precaution.

I have to emphasis though that it was a horrendous bug and I did struggle to keep water down, as well as being in bed for a couple days.

@WigglyWombat thank you for your reply, initially I couldn't keep water down, but I've been able to today, I'm just so worried it would cause a Mc or effect growth, I think I may be coming out the other side so will try to drink plenty x
