Hi everyone. Just after a bit of advice from anyone that’s been in a similar position. Had an early scan today at 7 weeks 3 days and got to see a tiny baby with heartbeat - measuring good. There was an area next to this baby’s sac which the sonographer advised could be a collapsed gestation sac from a potential twin pregnancy but as there’s nothing inside it she can’t be 100% sure. Has anyone had this and had it gone by your 12 week scan ? She advised it’s nothing to be worried about but to mention to midwife at booking appointment.

Yes.
I initially had a twin IVF pregnancy, both heartbeats seen, the next scan a couple of weeks later there was just one heartbeat and the other baby had no heartbeat and had stopped growing shortly after the last scan. I was advised that it’s very often the case that the one with no heartbeat is absorbed by the body, I had a further scan and this was the case. It had no affect on the remainder of my pregnancy, I never mentioned it to the midwife once they took over care though and DC is now a teen!
congratulations on your pregnancy!
