TTC after neonatal loss and fibroids

Hi there,

we lost our little boy at 34 weeks due to a problem with the placenta and bleed before birth. I had several fibroids but do not think they affected the pregnancy, although they may have caused PROM. I had a csection and wondered if anyone else TTC after without having fibroids removed. I have 2 5cm sized ones. Thank you

So sorry that happened to you OP.
I don't have fibroids myself but know of people who have had successful pregnancies with them, albeit complicated ones with spotting/bleeds throughout.....

  1. Do they know what happened to the placenta to cause this?
  2. do THEY think the fibroids caused it?

Those are two important things to know before TTC again without having them removed.
Friend of mine who's just coming to the end of her pregnancy has been consultant led due to having fibroids, were you?xx
Sorry again xxx

I have fibroids. 2 larger ones, 4cm-5cm and 2 or 3 smaller ones, 1cm-3cm. As far as I know, they never impacted the health of my pregnancy. Late pregnancy I was having scans every 2 weeks where they would measure the size. The concern was that pregnancy hormones could potentially make them grow and if they grew that could cause problems but my fibroids stayed the same size.

I’m now almost 8 weeks pregnant with #2 and my fibroids have not even been mentioned. My Dr knew I was trying to conceive and did not advise me to do anything about my fibroids first.

I’m so sorry for your loss x
