Just need some reassurance, pregnant after 4 miscarriages have had 2 scans already one at 6+1 then another one 2 weeks later and I was brought a day forward to 8+2 i have never seen a heartbeatand growing baby before. so today I am 9+5 and got a scan on Monday, am on progesterone 800mg a day one morning and one at night.

Have slight cramping on and off during the day no bleeding hoping it's everything stretching in there, anybody have any positive stories to share with me.

Hi there, just wondering how you got on with your pregnancy? I am just going through my fourth loss and looking for hope!

BabyHope1 · 11/05/2023 10:43

@thehurtingheart so sorry for what you're going through. Also had 4 losses. I am at pregnancy no. 5, 7w+ and it's the first time I've seen a heartbeat. I am however on medication this time. Have you underwent any tests?

thehurtingheart · 16/05/2023 07:03

@BabyHope1 I did the NHS recurrent miscarriage testing and came back with autoimmune thyroid so started taking levothyroxine. My consultant did not seem keen to try any of the things that seem common eg aspirin, steroids, progesterone. What do you think made the difference for you? I have never had a heartbeat yet so think it is an implantation issue...

BabyHope1 · 16/05/2023 08:12

I'm still very scared and stressed something could go wrong. I was also terified of the fact it appeared my body just couldn't produce an embryo. So I'm trying to focus on the good part, that this is the further I got in any previous pregnancy. I think the medication helped. They did not find any cause on tests. But I'm now on progesterone, baby aspirin, steroids and a medication that stops the body from rejecting the baby's half from the father. Really hoping it will work out this time and fingers crossed for you to find the right formula as soon as possible. I know how hard it can be so sending you best thoughts.

thehurtingheart · 17/05/2023 07:38

@BabyHope1 I really hope that your pregnancy continues to grow strong! How did you go about getting these medications prescribed? Was it NHS or private? My NHS miscarriage clinic seem reluctant to prescribe anything at all.

Picoloangel · 17/05/2023 07:42

I had DD (now 13) after 3 missed miscarriages. I had to take half an aspirin during my pregnancy but otherwise just folic acid etc. my anxiety levels were v v high but I had some hypnosis which helped and literally took it a day at a time. I just told myself “I’m still pregnant today.” Good luck OP just take it a day at a time.

BabyHope1 · 17/05/2023 08:23

@thehurtingheart private, but I am not in the UK, so unfortunately I can't make a recommendation...

Picoloangel · 17/05/2023 12:42

@thehurtingheart i paid privately to see Mr Rai at the recurrent miscarriage clinic based at St Mary’s Paddington. They are an excellent clinic and I continued as an NHS patient in my pregnancy with DD.

thehurtingheart · 23/05/2023 13:29

Thanks @BabyHope1 @Picoloangel both for your replies, just so desperately looking for hope on how to keep going with this.

LuneDArgent · 23/05/2023 13:52

Hi @BabyHope1 @thehurtingheart
I just wanted to write something as I understand completely how you feel.
I also had 4 miscarriages, all between 7 and 11 weeks, and I'm now pregnant for the 5th time... I don't expect anything else that another miscarriage to be honest. I'm 6+3 today, and will have a scan tomorrow at the RMC clinic, I'm ready for another bad news. I'm on progesterone for the first time, so let's see if it makes a difference (all my blood tests came back normal, so no reason found).
I recommend you to read the book Life, Almost from Jennie Agg in case you don't know it already. She had 4 MC before having her daughter. I haven't finished it yet, but I found it really good and it's helping me a lot.
Sending you strength and love 💞

Picoloangel · 23/05/2023 16:54

@LuneDArgent sending you everything I can for tomorrow - luck, thoughts, wishes etc. I can relate to how you feel. I couldn’t enjoy a second of my (successful) pregnancy just had a sense of dread throughout. Hoping all goes well for you tomorrow. 💐

thehurtingheart · 23/05/2023 18:38

Thanks @LuneDArgent I think I have read a few pieces written by her but not the book! I did like It Will Happen by Laura Buckingham if you haven't tried that one. Good luck tomorrow with your scan I am sooo hoping the best for you. I have seen quite a few stories where progesterone was the magic trick so I hope that for you!!

BabyHope1 · 23/05/2023 18:56

@LuneDArgent , I am always sad to hear of others going through this experience. But there are so many stories with happy outcome and they should give us hope it can also happen for us. Hugs and fingers crossed for tomorrow.

LuneDArgent · 23/05/2023 21:06

@Picoloangel thank you so much ❤️

@thehurtingheart thank you, and thank you for the book suggestion! I don't know it and will have a look! I hope you will get help with the NHS, hopefully fixing your thyroid issue might help. I think you could also ask for progesterone next time, it can only help from what I understand. I thought I would have to ask, but they directly gave it to me this time. It's so different from one clinic to another I guess.

@BabyHope1 thank you! Yes, we have to keep hope. I do think it will happen eventually for me, I just have a feeling it's not going to be this time... It's so difficult to imagine than a scan could go well, as it has never been. When is your next scan? I really hope this the one for you 💞

It's great that you all can understand, even though it makes me sad because it means you have been through the same 😔
I will update tomorrow!

Picoloangel · 23/05/2023 21:12

I was completely phobic about scans, so much so that when I had DD I hadn’t arranged a 12 week scan and it had to be arranged b last minute at some
godawful location when DP couldn’t come!

On the plus side, it is completely true what Drs say which is that if you can get pregnant there’s more likelihood of an eventual good outcome. Good luck all. ♥️

LuneDArgent · 24/05/2023 15:14

I just wanted to update after my scan: I can't believe it, but it seems that for now everything is fine, there was an embryo and a heartbeat! It is the first time I see a heartbeat in 5 pregnancies, but it's also the first time I have a scan that early, so I don't how it would have looked at this stage (I only had the scans when I was already spotting/bleeding the other times). I will have a rescan in 2 weeks, and in the meantime just taking it one day at a time and hoping this is the one 🙏 thank you all for you good wishes ❤️

thehurtingheart · 24/05/2023 15:53

@LuneDArgent this is brilliant news and gives me hope! I hope everything continues to go well!

BabyHope1 · 24/05/2023 15:55

Happy to hear @LuneDArgent . There's no other way than taking it each day at a time although it is soooo hard.

Take care!

Picoloangel · 24/05/2023 19:45

@LuneDArgent I’m am so pleased for you 😊
I had some hypnosis in the early stages of my pregnancy because I was very anxious. I didn’t much care for the therapist but one thing she suggested which I found really useful was visualising the baby in a really safe environment with someone I trusted completely.

For some bizarre reason I visualised my baby in a sort of rocket ship control room, very safely in a harness (like a child seat would have) and my Mum in her nurse’s uniform in charge of the controls and checking the harness 😬 It seemed to work for me but reading that back I sound like a complete loon! 🤣

All you can do is one day at a time. I am sending you everything I can I terms of good thoughts, wishes and vibes etc etc It is so so hard to relax and just allow yourself to hope but I just told myself every day “I’m pregnant today. “ Everything crossed for you ♥️
