Greece in July

I am hoping to go to Greece in July - will be approx 27/28 weeks outbound and return. I have text my midwife but she is on leave just to see if she has any concerns (low risk pregnancy so assuming she will say all ok) and to get a fit to fly certificate as I think Jet2 you need one after 28 weeks.

My question is more has anyone been on holiday in the heat whilst pregnant? Will it be too hot do you think or ok as long as shade/sun hat/plenty of water? Just don't want to be too uncomfortable but obviously will have pool and sea to cool off in.

We were thinking of going to a larger island such as Rhodes/Crete just so there is access to hospital etc if required (hopefully not!!!) and will also have travel insurance in place.

Thank you!

I did skiathos at 26 weeks pregnant and had a wonderful time. It was hot but not overwhelming and I didn’t struggle, just kept cool in the sea and pool as you say. Greeks were wonderfully caring and I wasn’t allowed to lift a finger! Absolute high point was sea kayaking around the most beautiful bay, we were never far from water and I pretty much lived in a swimming costume.

Meant to add - went in July as well.

I'm in Greece right now and I'm 31 weeks.

It's baking hot. I honestly thought it would be a bit cooler the last week in May, but the sun is ridiculously intense and I should have considered that. I can only imagine that July is hotter.

I think if you're planning a completely do-nothing holiday you'll be okay. Our holidays usually involve walking, exploring, bike riding, kayaking etc, generally being a bit active and there's just no way I can do that in this heat. We're spending a lot of time in the room with the Aircon on which feels like a waste of the holiday.

However I think it's more to do with what our expectations of a holiday are ... we're not sunbed-all-day people, and realistically that's all i can imagine doing).

I would have been better off going a few weeks earlier to be honest, 27/28 weeks would have been much better!

So, yeah, just depends what kind of holiday you want/expect!
