Hi all! Has anyone experienced getting flu so late in pregnancy?I did have a vaccine but caught it anyway… I feel like death warmed up … does anyone know if a GP can prescribe anything but paracetamol? I’ve got a 5yo DS off school this week and worried I’m going to pass it onto him 😣 never mind actually feeling so crap I can’t get anything done … x

I had proper flu when I was pregnant with my second child, there was no way I could have looked after my toddler, I can't remember how many weeks I was but I had a big bump. I have no knowledge of anything else you can take other than paracetamol but you need to rest, can someone else help with your son?

Thanks for your reply MissSmiley! My husband also woke up ill so I suppose we’ll tag team when one of us is feeling a bit better. So far our poor child has been watching TV nonstop (talk about mummy guilt!)
I rung the midwives this morning and indeed you can only take paracetamol… duh!

A bit of tv (ok a lot) is t going to hurt in this scenario so don’t feel guilty. It’s added stress you don’t need. She’ll have a great time 😂. Rest, drink fluids and listen to your body. Your husband has to take one for the team here and sort your daughter as you are in a more delicate situation. Now’s not the time to try and get anything major done. Hope you feel better!

I had flu when heavily pregnant. Drank hot water with lemon and honey which made me feel just psychologically a bit better I think. Not sure if it helped with anything physically although did recover quite quickly. Just 1tbsp lemon & 2 tbsp honey, can add a bit of ginger if you want.

Thanks! I hope so too… I was a bit better today so managed to get out in the garden for an hour ☺️

I’ve just finished a course of amoxicillin as I got a pretty nasty chest infection too. I’m 39 weeks today and feeling almost back to normal. This time last week I thought I was going to die I genuinely felt that ill, so you have my sympathies!
