Absolutely. I feel we've ended up in a situation where the word 'gender' has become the norm (maybe an Americanisation?). I know it sounds mean saying sex not gender but until young mums can understand this we have to keep saying it. We're really not trying to take the joy of your pregnancy away, but your precious little one is either a boy or a girl. If you don't care about the debate then you need to hope for a boy so they're not affected by this. For me, the most telling image is to look at photos from Iran in the 1970's compared to now. That really shows a society where modern women lost their rights. This is why we say this. However whatever your baby is, congratulations! X

I'm not a young mam I am a mother of 3 and the word gender is maybes used to much because that's what the nurses use "do you want no gender" "gender scan" it's just a word but fair enough for your opinion, and thank u.

Some people just like to point "it's not gender it's sex" on every thread that dares to say gender even though everyone knows its the sex of the baby, but its a gender scan ffs, completely agree with you OP, what difference does it make which word you use really! I don't want to hijack OP's thread but sex not gender is extremely important in the wider context. It' doesn't help anyone to pretend otherwise or to dismiss it as pedantry or trying to be clever or feeling superior.

I'm afraid I have no experience of guessing a baby's sex from scan photos op, but I see that most people on the thread are guessing girl. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well!

I think it's important to point it out whenever you see it being misused, if you don't have a grasp on the current climate of gender ideology and the damage it's causing, please look it up. Saying sex when discerning the difference between male and female has never been more important

And then pm me the examples please as I will leave this thread now and then maybe some more people will have a guess at the SEX of op's baby.
