Hospital choices for delivery in West Sussex

Hi,

Just looking for some advice on hospital choices in West Sussex please.

We’re still very early days in our pregnancy but seem to have to pick somewhere soon to start midwife appointments. We’re live in Horsham and are fairly new to the area and don’t know anyone else to ask!

We’ve been given the choice of Worthing Hospital, Princess Royal in Haywards Heath and East Surrey.

Initially we were looking at either Princess Royal or Worthing, but having looked at the CQC Inspections for all of them, both W and PR Maternity Units require improvements. East Surrey was rated outstanding but that was 3 years ago and I know things could have changed since then, and also that is the furthest distance for us.

Has anybody had any recent experience at any of the hospitals please? Thank you!

Congratulations!! I gave birth at princess royal … rushed in as I was very very poorly . They took such amazing care of myself, my husband and my baby. I can not fault them enough . They saved my life and then gave me aftercare like I was royalty . I no longer live in the area but if I had another baby I would not go anywhere else

Hi there beachwine,

In a similar situation to you and wondered if you had any guidance on hospital choices - what did you go for in the end and have you been happy with your care so far? I have also been reading the CQC inspections and had some concerns about PR based on their 'improvement needed' scores. It feels a bit of a minefield to be honest but do need to make a decision.

Thanks in advance for your help!

My SIL delivered my perfect little niece in PRH - no complaints.

I used to work at East Surrey Hospital and had colleagues who had babies there and no horror stories.

Not sure if that helps but hope it's peace mind! X

I don't know about the other two, but had my DD at East Surrey and having my second there. Lovely hospital, they were brilliant and the aftercare we received was also amazing.
