Anyone else hunger ramps up in latter stages of pregnancy I'm 36 weeks and could eat all day.. I think it's because I've never really eaten an awful lot. So it's a massive shock to the system being hungry throughout the day... I also plan to breastfeed so I better get used to it from what I've heard!

This is what I ate yesterday can someone tell me if it's too much??
Fairy big portions!

Porridge with jam

2 slices thick granary skinny spread with chopped up dates on top

Aldi benefit bar

Chicken thighs salad chips

Apple crumble custard

Confused

If you are still hungry it’s not too much. I had twins and about halfway through my pregnancy I was waking up about 3 am with headaches. The only thing that stopped that was having an extra snack before bed.

You are growing a complete human, that takes a hug amount of energy and calories. Maybe add more protein, and vegetables. Like cheese on the toast instead of the dates, have to dates for a snack.

That doesn’t sound like that much food to me. I am also pregnant and starving, but struggling to muster any appetite

Moancup · 30/05/2022 20:50

That doesn’t seem like a lot of food at all. Anyone would be starving with that lunch.

It’s high sugar and low protein, which will also be spiking your hunger.

SunshineAndFizz · 30/05/2022 21:06

Is that for the whole day?! That's not much to me.

But doesn't really matter by other people's standards - listen to your body and eat what you need.

Conc1 · 30/05/2022 21:47

I'd be starving if I ate that all day...

Hugasauras · 30/05/2022 21:51

That sounds like a fairly small amount to eat regardless of pregnancy!

Hugasauras · 30/05/2022 21:52

And yes, if you're hungry just eat. Simple as that!

34 wks Pg.

Toast and peanut butter this morning.

Couple of mini sausage rolls, bit of green salad

Lunch was a massive chicken burger with chips and coleslaw plus cheesecake

Dinner was Caesar salad, pizza and sticky toffee pudding.

I'm stuffed but could eat more if the right thing came along!

Your whole menu I could eat in a sitting!

Thats not a huge amount of food, especially in third trimester and understandably hungrier.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 30/05/2022 22:13

Crikey. No wonder I’ve put on 2.5 stone!

today was:

Bowl of wheats. Baked beans on tiadt
3 hobnobs
cheese on toast x 2
2 scones and jam and cream
hot chocolate
chicken Kiev and salad
yoghurt and fruit

shocking 😁 but delicious

nearlyspringyay · 30/05/2022 22:18

If you're hungry, eat. That's not a huge amount, eat a proper lunch, up the protein.

Pitstop1986 · 30/05/2022 22:37

Listen to your body and eat when you're hungry. I can remember being gobsmacked iny last few weeks of pregnancy as I ate so much, my appetite went crazy. You need an extra 4 or 500 calories on top of your normal intake in the third trimester. Plus, your body's probably gearing up for the birth, so you may be craving a few extra calories just from that.

Don't worry about weight gain. I was and I needn't have worried. I ate intuitively, lots of fruit and veg, but if I craved chocolate, I ate it, I also ate much more than I did pre- pregnancy. I put on the recommended weight gain and was back to my pre-pregnancy weight after a few weeks without trying. (Obviously this will not be the case for everyone) so all those extra calories really didn't matter

MJW1999 · 31/05/2022 00:00

Honestly that really isn’t a lot of food at all. Eat when you’re hungry your body and baby is telling you it needs it because it does.

A typical food day for me (30weeks pregnant) is (what I ate Friday as last time I logged my food diary)

Breakfast - chocolate waffle
-toasted bagel and butter

Morning Snack. - wafer bar

lunch- cooked hot school dinner (I work in a school) fish chips beans and coleslaw with a chocolate yoghurt

afternoon snack- chocolate bar one small bag of my cravings (sweets)

  • bag of crisps

dinner

  • Large Kebab and chips

pudding ice cream

whatwasyournamesorry · 31/05/2022 07:07

That sounds like a normal diet for non pregnant person

I ate four times that

No wonder im overweight 🙈
