I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I'm suffering with thrush which keeps coming and going. Got an appointment to see the midwife next week so was going to mention it then but seriously is there anything I can do in the meantime to help ease it a bit?!

You can use canestan cream or pessary to treat (not the oral tablet though).

Cotton underwear, loose clothing, water only to wash your vulva & reduce sugar intake can help.

I sympathise, I'm 39+2 & on about my 8th recurrence (despite taking all the steps above!) since being pregnant. Midwife & GP have said it's hormone-related unfortunately.

Thanks @AwkwardPaws27! It's honestly doing my head in 😂 I will go get some canestan, I do everything else like wear loose clothing but I'm just so uncomfortable all the time 😂😭

I'm 8+4 at the moment. At abojt 5 weeks I couldn't stand the thrush anymore. Used the pessary you insert without the applicator you should use your fingers if you're pregnant and cream and went the next day. Brilliant!

I'm 39 weeks and have suffered consistently, the GP prescribed me a 7 day course of pessaries and it's cleared it up.

Keep going back to the GP, don't suffer with it :)

I'd see your GP - it can take a longer course of treatment to clear in pregnancy and if nothing else that is expensive to buy. I was prescribed a 7 day course of pessaries.

I'm really annoyed with my GP now. I've had so many bouts of it during this pregnancy, I've had a speculum and swab to check it's just thrush, & they've only given me one pessary at a time. No one has mentioned that I could have a longer course!

I’m 26.5 weeks and I’ve had it the last 2-3 weeks. Ii annoyingly keeps coming and going. Trying thrush cream, to reduce sugar, wearing liners as Im frankly fed up of changing underwear constantly, loose cotton undies and showering straight after exercise. Praying this fixes it for good.

It is really getting me down now. I had it a few weeks ago too and it cleared up but it's just relentless. Been and bought some canesten anyway so 🤞🏻

Yeah you really need a longer course of pessaries 😕Otherwise it's like taking one of seven antibiotic tablets and maybe noticing an immediate improvement but it would obviously not knock it out.

loves2plan · 29/05/2022 08:48

@Regenbogen22 I know I know, I just needed something as we're going away tomorrow so I won't have chance to see anyone then I have my midwife appointment when we're back anyway 😖 hopefully it just eases a bit
