Did I just wee myself? 😂

Sorry for the tmi but I am 33+3 weeks pregnant and have had an awful cough all week. Last night I was walking home and I coughed and my pants were a little damp, smelt a bit like wee so I thought nothing of it and got changed into my pjs after going to the toilet to finish my wee 😂

About 20 minutes of sitting in bed later I got up to get a drink and coughed and felt wet again and said to dp I think I just wet myself again! Went to the bathroom and there was a big wet patch that didn't smell of anything. It could be wee and I've just drank lots of water so it's diluted and I don't it would be my waters as I would have been wet just standing up surely without the coughing?

Just looking for some advice! A few weeks ago I kept getting wet knickers and labour unit checked and said it wasn't my waters so don't want to bother them again.

Pregnancy is so glam 😂

Stress incontinence is fun. Oh dear.
Are you considering wearing a liner?

I would be inclined to go to the assessment unit - I had this and it was my waters.

Do ask for a swab. I was told I'd wet myself as they couldn't see my waters pooling but then they (very grudgingly) swabbed me as another midwife suggested it might be a good idea. It was positive for waters and I was subsequently kept in for monitoring and then induced. I was 34+5.

It could be stress incontinence, could be additional discharge, which is common in pregnancy, but I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it without being properly assessed.

I think I’d call them to see what they say just in case it is your waters especially if you didn’t actually need a wee at the time

breadedchicken · 28/05/2022 11:30

I would 100% get this checked out. Best case scenario you just pissed yourself😂

I expect it’s wee. Even if it doesn’t smell (it shouldn’t if you are well hydrated).

kegels, daily at least, for the rest of your life! There’s an app to keep reminding you.

period pants also, as otherwise you’ll go through pads like there’s no tomorrow

Ah bless you, as someone that peed themselves a lot from around 28 weeks pregnant I know the feeling! May be worth giving them a quick call, they may just say to keep an eye on it and if it keeps happening without the coughing to go in. The coughing at the same time does sound though like it's more likely to be pee (so very glamorous isn't it 😂). When my waters went it wasn't all in one go just in trickles but it wasn't joined with coughing just as I stood up/moved if that makes sense. If you call I'd just say you aren't sure if it is just pee as that way they may say to keep an eye on it rather than making you go in straight away. As long as they know what time it started it won't effect anything if you need inducing. X

Thank everyone! It was quite the wet patch after I’d not long gone to the toilet, but have had nothing since so don't want to be overreacting but I will ring them and just see what they say! I always feel guilty like I'm time wasting but then I also feel guilty that something could harm the baby if I did leave it and didn't get advice

I kept thinking I was losing my waters because it didn’t smell of anything and basically looked to me like water. It wasn’t until I got the hand held mirror out and had a look down below (sorry TMI) that I realised I was actually leaking really watery milky discharge - nice! This was after a couple of terrified trips to the maternity unit and 2 swabs! Eep…
