My neighbours (teens) are smoking weed a few times a day and it’s blowing into the house through the windows and even when the windows are shut I can smell it in the house as it must come through the loft when they are indoors.

I am so worried about the impact on the baby as I’m pregnant. I’ve read that it can harm development and I’m worried might be born with an addiction! I’m just really really worrying.

I posted in chat about the conversation with the teens but I’m struggling with pregnancy worries so have posted here, hope that’s ok. I’d be grateful for any advice.

I wouldn't have thought it would impact your baby, but I'm not a doctor... go round and tell the parent about the teen smoking though and it seeping into your home.

I have the exact same problems with my neighbour smoking it and being an attached house our bedroom can stink! I was so worried in my first pregnancy but was assured that the smell alone would do no harm, if it was second hand smoke or if I was smoking it then that's a different matter but just being able to smell it was fine (although disgusting)

I'm now on my 3rd pregnancy and all is fine with my previous 2 children and also so far everything is okay with this pregnancy :)

I think a polite word explaining you're pregnant and you're worried about second hand smoke is probably the best course of action

Firstly, cannabis isn't physically addictive. Even babies born to mothers who smoke it themselves don't have an addiction at birth - I've only ever heard of that happening with babies if heroin users.

If you have a Google around you can see what evidence there is of cannibis damaging unborn babies and the short answer is not a lot. But even if there is some negative effects, the amount of cannibis you're inhaling via your neighbours is tiny. Much, much less than if you were smoking it yourself. Excessive anxiety will do more harm
