Bleed at 11 weeks PLUS loss of symptons

Hi all,
I was exactly 11 weeks yesterday and had a sudden gush of bright red blood. No pain/cramps and didn't fully fill a pad then stopped entirely. Went to hospital and physical exam showed cervix closed. Doc was confident I was not miscarrying but didn't scan me. This is an IVF pregnant and I'm taking Crinone progesterone pessaries, Doc thinks this could have caused the sudden bleed. I know this can irritate the cervix but would it cause a 'gush' ?

What has me really freaking out is the fact I also suddenly lost my symptons, which had been strong. I had terrible nausea and heartburn and felt totally fine yesterday and so far again today. I will book in for private scan but I'm desperate for someone to advise me. I'd prefer to be prepared. P.s this was originally twin, twin 1 heartbeat stopped at 8 weeks, twin 2 was going strong at 9 week scan.

The symptoms going could be from the placenta taking over. I would want a scan for peace of mind though. Can you try the EPU?

CatZ77 · 26/05/2022 09:01

@Cakecakecheese thanks for reply. Yes sure, I wouldn't panic if that happened on its own, its just at same time as a bleed....I'm freaking out. Epu have given me apt but not until Tuesday. Earliest I can make private will be Monday

OP, I'm sorry you are going through this. I had very sudden loss of symptoms with my first, around this time (the placenta takes over around this time) and everything was fine. It's good that you aren't getting any pain. Have you had any more bleeding since last night?

Crazycatlady83 · 26/05/2022 09:17

Sorry, I don't know much about IVF but could you speak to your clinic and get scanned earlier?

vegang · 26/05/2022 09:18

Hi OP, it's totally normal for symptoms to stop around now as the placenta takes over, my symptoms stopped at 10 weeks and I was really worried and didn't feel pregnant until about 22 weeks!

EarringsandLipstick · 26/05/2022 09:21

OP, no-one can say for certain but indications look positive - your review by doc, plus healthy heartbeat at 9 weeks.

That being said, I have had that experience of loss of symptoms, suddenly & in my case it was a MMC, in the end.

However, that's absolutely not to say you should fear the same, but I would definitely have a scan for reassurance.

Best of luck 💐

@Crazycatlady83 ivf clinic are useless, they couldn't care less, its all a money game to them. No bleeding, not even spotting since yesterday and still no pain so that's keeping me semi hopeful

Oh that's good to hear @vegang

I would speak to your clinic and see if they can get you in sooner. I've had this exact same thing in two of my pregnancies and both continued well beyond that point, although with one it was sadly the beginning of a bad outcome. I've had loads of bleeds in various pregnancies and my symptoms always disappear for a while after - I think its the stress and adrenaline with me.

CatZ77 · 26/05/2022 09:34

@EarringsandLipstick thanks for your honesty, I had a MC on last pregnancy, early though at 7 weeks and no doubts at the time, it was clear what was happening. I'll just have to wait for scan I guess 😪

Sorry @CatZ77 just seen your most recent post. That's crap.

TinyBearCub · 26/05/2022 09:35

About your clinic I mean.

CatZ77 · 26/05/2022 09:37

@TinyBearCub sorry to hear that.....no ivf clinic not an option I'm not giving them any more money, they treated me v badly from the outset, caused original fail (poor advice re tubes) and miscarriage on 2nd due to not managing thyroid and this time I've had to fight to check bloods etc and get right meds. Relationship bad with them

I do feel for you op. I had something similar and ended up paying for a private scan (about £80 but that was a few years back) EPU were pretty useless to be honest. Take care of yourself and all the very best. x

CatZ77 · 26/05/2022 09:54

@TellySavalashairbrush Thank you X

I have had some bleeding on and off for weeks a scan showed that the bleeding is outside of the sac so shouldn't affect the baby my bleeding started an 9ish weeks and I'm now 13 weeks I've had no pregnancy symptoms at all. It took a week for me to be seen at the epu and they didn't want to scan me at first but eventually they agreed too.

CatZ77 · 26/05/2022 10:12

@Lilbunnyfufu blood in pregnancy is scary isn't it. Glad yours is on track and they could tell where blood came from

Any update OP?

LittleRobins · 26/05/2022 18:39

I had a heavy bleed lasting three days at 11 weeks. I was convinced I had lost the baby but the scan showed it was my ovarian cyst draining. Some people have cysts without any pain or symptoms. Bleeding is always scary, even when it’s spotting let alone when it’s heavy. I hope you have a positive outcome

Thanks everyone for comments. I got a cancellation apt this evening in private clinic and am delighted to say baby doing great. Measuring bang on dates, wriggling around and strong heartbeat. Unfortunately still couldn't say what caused the bleed. I also actually got the nausea back today with a bang too. I'm nervous and will remain nervous until I deliver (please please let that happen 🙏) but seeing him/her moving around and being so active really was a great relief!
