Progesterone

Anyone in early pregnancy on progesterone? NICE guidelines now say it should be offered on NHS if you've had at least 1 mc and are experiencing bleeding in another pregnancy. I have had 1 mc and am not bleeding so don't qualify. I'm 42 so I'm not interested in waiting to bleed or maybe become a recurrent miscarriage statistic - I just don't have the time left if this pregnancy doesn't work out. I'm planning to get a one off private appointment for progesterone. Has anyone else done this? I'm 5w 4d.

I’m thinking about this! I’m 5 + 2 and I did a Superdrug blood test a few days ago which said my serum progesterone is 42nmol/L. I took the test due to 2 previous MC and short luteal phase.

From what I gather gynaes and private clinics like it to be above 40. So now I have no idea if I should try and get progesterone or not.

Congratulations!

Hi I have just been prescribed progesterone from the epau. I had a miscarriage in feb and I'm 8+3. Last week I had lots of brown discharge and then some bleeding. I went in to get an early scan and they offered me Utrogestan pessaries. I haven't had any brown/red spotting since.

I'm on progesterone injections and suppositories. The thing is it doesn't necessarily guarantee a viable pregnancy. Anyone could still miscarry or deem the pregnancy not viable on the scan.

Hi there, I begged for it very early on in this pregnancy after previous loss, there was no current bleeding. I did manage to get it and was taking it until last week. It’s worth a try in my opinion xx
