Hi all,
I'm currently holidaying in the UAE - Dubai and Abu Dhabi and I am/have been attacked by mosquitos!
There are no confirmed cases of Zika over here but I was wondering if anybody else had been through a similar situation where they've been bitten by mosquitos while pregnant?
Thanks

Yes, found out I was pregnant whilst in a zika country that was on the red or Amber list. I got one bite I think during the holiday, I had completely doused myself in bug spray and covered myself thoroughly at night and in the evening. Baby was born absolutely fine. The zika pandemic is not as bad as it was back when it was first discovered though, the statistics for my holiday country were very old and zika mostly affects those who live in the country.

I don't understand what your concerns are though as you aren't in a zika country?

Women the world over get bitten by mosquitos and give birth to healthy babies

If there is no zika whats your concern?

Yes I went on holiday to Italy when 20 weeks pregnant and I tend to be mosquito food. Mosquito bites themselves are harmless. The diseases they transmit (zika/malaria/dengue fever) are not but unless you are somewhere where these things are a problem then it’s no different to getting bitten by a midgie if you decided to holiday in Scotland instead of somewhere hot!
