Just got a shock to see dark brown discharge in my underwear and when I wiped. Should I be concerned or is this normal? I’m 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. No pain.

I had this, at the same time.
I done IVF so rang clinic and they got me in for a scan. Nothing stood out so down to just some old blood.

Brown is good, and a small amount. It's very common

Bright red and filling a pad then you need to be concerned.

Thanks so much. Can I ask did you go on to have a successful pregnancy? My fingers are crossed

I did. He's currently running wild upstairs Smile

If you Google it on Mumsnet you'll be thousands of threads on it.

Hi @Shellypreggo how are you now? Find this thread as I am also dealing with the same situation, dark brown discharge when I am wiping and lazy two days have been so scary for me. I am close to 6 weeks now, are you still having the discharge or did you see the doctor?

Shellypreggo · 06/06/2022 16:58

Hi Shrut89 the spotting lasted 1 day only and I went and had a scan showing the baby was measuring 6weeks and 3 days and had a strong heartbeat so I am super relieved! Apparently some implantation bleeding can be delayed. Try your hardest not to worry - if it’s brown rather than red then this is less of a concern and apparently it very common. Ive read so many positive stories of women who this happened to who went onto have healthy babies. Hope your spotting stops and you have a positive scan too - I recommend paying to get a private one to put your mind at ease xx
