Evaporation line or positive?? Coil fitted

Hi

I have a copper coil fitted (in 8 years), but started spotting randomly today (period not due for another week). Anyway, did two pregnancy tests and both have come up with a blue line about twenty mins later (couldn’t see anything before ten). Just wondering if I could be pregnant?? Or menopausal. I am forty. Pictures below.

And if it is positive do I need to do anything urgently with having a coil fitted

Hi, If you are pregnant with a coil fitted you need to get a scan to make sure the pregnancy is in the right place as there is an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. Was your last period on time and seemed normal? As you have had some bleeding maybe phone 111 for advice? If you aren't pregnant and start spotting randomly with a coil in then you should get advice from GP/contraception clinic.

Get a pink dye test. Those blue dye tests give clear evaporation lines.

Thanks both! Going to see how things are in the morning and take another test! I don’t have any other pregnancy like symptoms and last period was normal!

@Janedoe82 and for the test to be valid the positive line should be appearing within the official time frame. Obviously try a different brand test if this is still not happening with the tests you have.

Thanks all! Two negative tests and still bleeding (quite light) so assume must be peri menopause

Two more positive tests today and latest came up right away. So GP Tomorrow

I had blue evaporation lines come up after the time frame on blue dye tests in the past. I think blue dye tests are notorious for it, however, the lines are usually faint and those are quite strong. Have you done a pink dye test yet?

Pink dye test to do tomorrow morning! Now have four blue positives so will see what happens. Still bleeding though which is worrying

No baby! Blood test negative! also got a positive on clear blue so all totally bizarre!
