Help! Do I stand a chance at conceiving this month?

I came off the pill after ten years and have had two natural cycles since, the first being 33 days, the second 38.

I am now on day 10 of my cycle, my partner goes away on the 25th (pm) for two weeks and I have been using clear blue ovulation tests for the past two days (no smiley yet)

My plan is to now DTD every day until he goes away on Wednesday (6 days!).

Do I have any chance on conceiving this month? Is it pointless me trying unless I get atleast a flashing smiley?

I won't be surprised if I ovulate whilst he's away :(

After 2 and a half years of trying without any sniff of a pregnancy we had a cycle like this. Our last natural one before IVF and DH left for an2 week work trip a few days before I was due to ovulate.

Day he flew home I got a very longed for BFP.

That baby is now 5.

I'm not saying it will happen, but it might.

Even if you do ovulate after he's gone, if you DTD on Wednesday there will still be sperm swimming round waiting for the egg.. they can live up to 5 days in the female reproductive system. So absolutely possible!

Thanks, I guess I have my doubts because my last cycle was quite long, but I guess my cycles are still getting back to normal, so I could have a shorter cycle this month! Fingers crossed

Obviously your choice what you do, but when I was seeing a fertility specialist (needed IVF for my first in the end) they said that DTD every other day was better for sperm quality than everyday, and as someone said, sperm live for 5 days so the none DTD days are covered by whatever is already swimming around in there.

Update, I got a flashing smiley on a clear blue digital ovulation test this morning, cycle day 15! (We DTD last night and will tonight and tomorrow morning (my partner goes away tomorrow afternoon for two weeks)... Still reckon I have a chance?

Yes you have a chance @LilyDaniels 🙂 Plus there’s a chance the egg has already been fertilised by sperm that are swimming in there if you’ve had sex in the last few days.

I literally had my coil taken out the day I was supposed to ovulate, I thought there was no chance but I reckon sperm was waiting to pounce as I got pregnant immediately?! Blew my mind tbh.

Update - now on day 21 of my cycle and had my 7th flashing smiley!
I've been testing for ovulation since cycle day 7!
Last month I ovulated day 28 and my cycle was 38 days, but I thought it may start to get better as I had a flashing smiley so early on and it's now my 3rd natural cycle since coming off the pill.
So it doesn't look like I'm conceiving this month and my partner is away till the 8th and we last DTD on my 2nd flashing smiley day.
