Hi all,

I'm literally 32+1 today this morning a HUGE clot of mucus in my underwear which my sisters who are doctors have confirmed is the mucus plug. It's so gross it looks like a slug :( sorry tmi.

I spoke to the midwife and they said not to worry unless it is accompanied by pain or bleeding.

Has anyone else had this experience loosing mucus plug so early? Is it a risk? Does it mean labour is near? I'm so worried and don't feel reassured by midwife.

Thanks

I lost mine a few times in my first pregnancy. Usually after I'd gotten intimate with DH (even if no PiV), but a couple times was spontaneously. I found out it grows back after it happened the first time at 10 weeks, so never worried after that. So no further advice than to monitor discharge for infection/waters as well as for pain and bleeding. Didn't go into labour at any point, and was induced at 37 weeks for unrelated reasons. Happy, healthy baby is now a noisy messy toddler.

Thanks for your reply that makes me feel better! Did you ever get big clumps of it and how does one even know that it's grown back? I wish there www a way to check. Me and the father of the baby don't have sex and nothing else goes up there so it just seems so random and unexpected.
